It took a while, but I am starting the thread for my wife's bronco. It took 6 years to complete, and is an old man's rig. I am copying over from another forum as I am lazy, but want show it all. Its running, driving and still in progress.


Well it's been a while but I decided to bore you all with another build. We've had this one for 5 years and decided it was time to do ball joints tie rods etc and figured why not give it some extra love since I finished the bug. Plan is coilovers radius arms cut and turn beams leafs and mount the shocks underneath the floor. Thought about a short course style 4 link but don't want to lose any interior space.

Got the passenger beam done coilovers mocked up on one side. Looks like I'll be cutting off the existing shock mounts but the cage fits. Had my daughter (major Tom boy) help me for a bit. Got alot stripped down and headers installed so far.

Progress is progress. Trying my hand at cut and turn etc on my own with some advise from friends. I decided to keep it on bushings but I still reinforced passengers and drivers bungs. Drivers truss is almost done. Passengers side is completed.

I got the top plate done and some primer on it. Need the bash plate welded underneath the beam and it can be complete. Steve I already plan on it. It's a pain to drain and refill. I did it once with a sucker pump and it wasn't fun.

All tucked back underneath. Shouldn't be noticable until someone really looks.

See more goodies showed up. New radius arm brackets and 90% completed radius arms. I'll finish the plate work and have a major portion of the front ready.

Got a bit excited and did a test fit. Once I scrub the surface rust and finish plate work I think it'll look pretty nice.

Finished off one radius arm and mocked up the other to see how everything goes together. So far so good.

Kind of a crappy shot but I tucked the beams up. Not too shabby. I'm planning on running 35s and stock fenders so I doubt I'll be able to tuck this tight.

repainted everything. I'm trying to keep the suspension low key. Also I'm considering swing set steering.

Mocked up the tire to figure out where I need to bump out at. Definitely going to need a taller cage.

I made the first plate and tacked a stub to it. The front will land on the hump with 4 bolts. No bends as I like the look of the welded tubes vs bent. Also I save room.

Got the front mount for the passengers side cut out and holes drilled. Just need a piece of tube and 4 holes in the frame and I can tack
together the passengers side

Tacked and waiting for the shock tabs I ordered from ruff stuff.

My ruff stuff tabs showed up today and I cut out the lower shock mounts, tacked them on the beam fitted tubes and cycled suspension. I'm leaving some room in case I end up going with glass for more bump travel. I think my shock shafts either have a short rod or a spacer. I'll have to take them apart to find out.

Ok done for the night. Just need to gusset the shock mounts and add tabs when I get the driver's side done.

So it appears I made a mistake. The shock mounts on the hoops are too far out resulting in the coil hitting the tire at full tuck and full lock.
I did manage to get the lower shock mount down.

Okay got the shock mount rotated. I am clearing the frame rails by just over 1.5" so all in all I'm good with that. I'll take it all apart fully weld and gusset then off to the driver side I go.
