Yo Bronco guys in the know! I've decided to order the Cho swing steer set up for my 94. Question is if I decided to do a ram assist set up what's the cheapest way to piece this together. I know I can go to Howe, PSS or Lee and get a whole kit but that's a little to baller for my budget. Wandering if any of you have piece it together cheaper using off the shelf parts from different companies. Lets hear it.

Pic for fun

I’m running a
sweet TC pump 1350 psi 4.5 gpm
-I’ll have to measure the pulley diameter
-I was going to get the 1500 psi pump but they were out of stock
-I have the Howe pressure relief valve, it’s preset too 1500Psi so it’s useless right now unless I adjust it to a lower psi.
-kartek reservoir with the filter on the bottom.
-plate style cooler (some people run the plate style and some people say it’s no good for power steering systems) im gonna run it
-8” psc ram limited to 4” throw (2” diameter)

If you go with Howe, they will want you to send your steering box so they can do the rebuild and port job. While also setting the internal stops.

Not a terrible idea but it’ll run you about $2800 + -

I’ll attach the quote

Great thank you! I'll probably just order that Howe bracket since it looks pretty strait forward.

Im thinking for now I will upgrade to a TC pump, reservoir and cooler then add a Ram and ported box down the road.

My setup:
-Cho steering
-Cho steering Howe ram assist (Built to the Cho steering specs with internal stops built in)
-PSC Desolate ported steering box
-Sweet 1450 psi steering pump (purchased at Kartek)
-Holley GM pulley (Came with the accessory drive kit)
-Howe 2" steering cooler (purchased at Kartek)
-Kartek power steering reservoir (purchased at Kartek)

Awesome. I was thinking about doing the same TC pump, cooler and reservoir from kartek as you listed right from the start since my current ford PS pump is whining and leaking. Then adding a ported box and ram down the road when funds permit.

Does anyone know if its an issue using a 1300-1450psi pump on the stock unported box?

I personally do not. Maybe Bobby at SOLO Motorsports can answer that for you.

Mine is stock but ported, I don’t see any reason the internals couldn’t handle the extra pressure. I think the weak point will be your sector shaft.
I don’t think it’s uncommon to bump up pump pressure on a stock box

It’ll work fine but you’re putting even more stress on the sector shaft.

Have you ran this setup? No issue with pump whine or foaming fluid? I tried a Kartek nonfiltered reservoir and it sucked lol. No baffles or anything, at rpm higher than idle the fluid would just turn to foam inside and make the pump whine like crazy. Burned up a few TC pumps

Personally I have not. But almost all the Bronco's I have helped with are running the same stuff, except for the Holley pulley.
