I think it's cool for a DD. Obviously, need an additional gas vehicle for any real travel but I like what they are doing especially that it's made in the USA.

I like the way it looks, and the idea of an affordable bare bones truck/suv thing. Kinda looks like a modernized early Bronco if you squint at it👀 I just wish there was a hybrid option.

Its like a better looking Bronco 2 successor/Bronco Sport than the actual Bronco Sport lol and I don’t hate the Bronco Sport’s

I saw an ad for it on IG and got really excited. I love the stripped-down no-BS approach, and the part where they compare them in size to a mid 80s toyota p/u. The all-electric part kinda sucks, I wish they had a gas version available. The price point seems good (starting around $20k AFTER the $7k tax incentives), but for the mid twenties (thousand) you could get something equally as "meh" and get a ford maverick. As gay as they are, they check the boxes for what Id want in a DD. That all said, these little Slates could be the perfect bare-bones DD if you dont have a far commute. I definitely dont hate it lol.

biggg ford maverick guy eh haha

I agree this thing would be a bad ass DD for short commutes.

If the Maverick stayed at the price point they were supposed to hit and / or had a plug in hybrid with a 40+ range I would probably be driving one. The fact that the stripped ones are 32k + is silly.

Deep down i want a Maverick for a DD, with a camper shell because they look cool as shit lol. This Slate looks really cool.

Question. I know new homes come with EV charging capabilities, but whats the process of adding a way to charge one in an older home?

first ive seen this, and i have a 10 miles each way commute, solar at home and available 220 50 amp plugs near by and soon maybe a charging station at work. I would never buy a gay ass ford let alone a maverick, but i have been thinking about an EV for strictly commuter duties. Driving a car isnt my style either though so maybe a lame ass ev truckish thing is the ticket.

It will depend if your house has a 100 amp panel you may need to upgrade it to a 200 amp which would suck and be expensive, But you just need a 220v line with a 30-50 amp breaker and the correct outlet.

Looks like the Slate can be charged with just a normal 110v outlet but it takes way longer.

I wish Toyota would sell a bare bones small truck here, hand crank windows and all, I’d be game.
I like the Maverick but sharing shit with the Escape leaves me meh about it.

Someone needs to channel the old Toyota truck or hardbody energy with something new.

A barebones straight axel with manual t case and trans would be the greatest

They do. The only problem is that they can't sell it in the states.

If I lived in a major urban area and never really left it id consider trying one out.

Considering its several hours between towns of any major sizes and the out lying areas haven't adopted installing charging stations for current models getting stranded worries me. Especially when it's below freezing 4 to 6 months a year.

I think the slate makes a lot of sense for people in big city's that need a little truck. I dig the concept of it. I bought a xl maverick at the beginning of the year because I needed a new daily that got good MPGs and could still do parts runs. Can't beat 30+mpg and still fit 5 35s in the back

I'd like an EV truck but being remote from everything electric isn't in the cards and I can't afford a new vehicle either. I'd be down for a hybrid truck before a full EV
