Rear has a factory g80 but long term I’d want to put a selectable locker in it

Found time to finish the 8lug swap up front and threw a tire on to see how the new wheel offset would look. Still waiting on brake lines and shock mount stuff for the rear end to go in.

Finished the rear end swap (SF 14bolt out of a 1500hd), got crossover steering done and all the stuff and things inbetween. New brake master cylinder and booster too. Littlest sister helped bleed the brakes and finish up all the smaller finishing touches going through the new rear end.

Immediately after wiring the new dash, sent a 5-6ish hour roadtrip SB-Sequoias. Alternator ground somehow came loose at the very end but no issues otherwise. 12-17mpg all the way was nuts loaded down. Little sister gave me a tow mater figure for the dash “in case you break down”

makes me miss driving my C10, only reason I regret tearing it down is I cant drive it.....

Yeah just driving something this old around my area in particular is hilarious there’s not much older than like the 90s on the road and especially not old trucks

Catching up on some projects, and I love these trucks.
Your best bet for cost and availability is a 05+ super duty front. On that note, you will either have to retube it for pass drop or swap t case for driver's drop. For even more strength, a 1550 joint and shafts are available, and they are factory parts so they don't carry the same price as RCVs or the like. I think I saw them for less than $400 (each possibly, but could have been together, ECGS has them).
Other possibility is a 99-04 super duty D60, it's not as stout as the 05+, and do your homework as many are D50. Leaf sprung, but I think they are wider perches than square body trucks, and still driver side drop.
A GM D60 will almost require a rebuild, and they are $1500+, at least here (NC), if you can find them. Almost better off building a 609 for the strength and comparable pricing, just requiring quite a bit more work.
Love a LS square body. Like it's designed to go in!
