6.0 power stroke EGR delete?

Any of you guys have experience with the EGR delete for the 6.0?

I haven’t dove into the truck yet, just looking for some advice from anyone who has done it before.

Is it worth it to delete?
Tips or tricks?

I found a pretty good you tube video on replacing the EGR.

I got wadded up on the freeway in my 04 Duramax…. So this will be the permatemp truck untill I sling a kidney for a new truck

if it is working, just leave it. I installed the bullet proof diesel one (along with most all there other products) about 5 years ago. been all good.

I should have said this in the original post but I have to pull the EGR because it has a massive coolant leak. I hope it’s the EGR anyways……

would you say it’s better to have a cooler than to not have one? @charlie brown

i have been told its better and less things to go wrong without one.

Started cracking into this thing….
Boy… they did not make it easy to access the EGR.

Pretty much everything has to come off the top of the engine to access the EGR and oil cooler.

I spent the good part of three hours on it and managed to get the turbo out…
Out of curiosity I called around to talk to some diesel shops to get there opinion on the fix.
I talked to a dude at domestic diesel in corona. He was really cool and gave it to me straight up. He told me I have a 50/50 chance that even if the issue is the EGR and the head gasket isn’t blowing by there might still be a chance the heads are compromised.

So basically he said… don’t bring that truck here unless you are ready to drop 10-12k on that engine..

I’ve got a bit more shopping around to do on Monday for a second opinion.
