1991 Explorer

Keep me posted and I'll grab it from him when I'm passing through Simi next couple months for ya.

Haha fuck man. I messaged him, my buddies messaged him. If homeboy would respond to any message I’d be there. That doesn’t make sense that they’re 200$.

I am determined to keep this 2” drop bracket kit alive hahah. These are essentially a replica of the factory ford stx brackets and avoids doing a c&t. I am not against a c&t, but I am against spending money if I can make my own shit work for free. So I made a new boxing template and got that in as well as some weld washers as I wasn’t 100% stoked on the bolt fitment. I can’t imagine this mount having another issue.

Rear shocks are also a lil bit used… still work and have tons of resistance and wanting to rebound the shaft out when trying to compress them. Rancho rs9000 for the win

Also… how much rust do you have in your diffs? Dammit. I wire wheeled it as best as I could, slapped new seals in and it’s getting slapped back in. I talked to some diff builders and they said since it’s a front diff, it should last a long time with the little amount of driving in 4x4.

Maybe prep is somewhat important, who knows. I do know I hate this and I’d rather be driving it!

Weird that you're getting that much rust on your ring gear/diff. You must had some kind of gasket or seal leak.
Oh I had a bad driver side seal. It had been like that for probably a year or so. I didn’t want to get into the mess of having to drop both beams, pull the axles and all that. Because I’d find myself in the situation I’m in now… wrong parts being shipped, parts backordered, all that crap. I use this dumb thing almost ever weekend in winter and didn’t want to miss any sort of trip or anything cause it’s torn down.

Then Summer out here in Az makes working on your shit even less fun that normal. 110 degrees for weeks on end. First 78 degree day we had this month I took advantage of it.

Oh trust me. I’ve just dumped like $3k into my truck just doing maintenance repairs. Initially I took my truck into the repair shop just to have them fix my AC. Then they gave me a laundry list of things my truck needed fixing, totaling $5,500. Fuck that. So I had them fix my AC and I started ordering parts. I’m about half way through the list and I just replaced my radiator. Test drove it and leaks. I couldn’t figure out where the leak was coming from so I took it back in. $1,200 later , I have a new water pump and timing belt.

And all I wanted was some cold air during the last part of summer. Ha!

Unfortunately it’s taken me weeks to get this thing together, as I recently learned I have one bulging disc, and one herniated disc in my back. I really only get two-three hours a day at best before I’m seized up. But…

The hoopty is back together with Energy suspension poly pivot bushings, mounted the brake lines since it always flopped loosely. You’d think I’d do custom lines or atleast stainless soft line, but nah. Ran a new vent line up the radius arm to above the frame rail to hopefully keep water out. Both diffs fluid changed, brakes too. It also got the rustoleum sponsored clean up, and by sponsored I mean purchased. Crazy how much better things drive when they are not blown out like an only fans model.

I am running a solid part of the Arizona Peace Trail next month from Wikieup to Salome, so it’s pretty much as ready as can be. Now I need to start getting the tools and what not ready.

All these explorers make me want an explorer

Been through a few of them in my day. This one is my absolute favorite though.

My first car was an explorer, so the love has always been there. 93 4x4 i had built from stock over the years, which evolved like everything. I might be wrong but @NODNARB did my 4.5 over ttb on coilbuckets, and I think it was his first ever?IMG_2582.jpeg

2wd, McNeil built with with equal length beams. Picked it up as a total basket case, rattle canned it and put some wheels and tires on it and made it fairly cool looking.

My other current one is a 93 4x4, exact trim model as my first one. It’s stupid clean, and I wanted to build this one the way I should’ve done my first one. Will be a clean sleeper like everyone else’s haha. I swapped in a manual trans and manual transfer case, but it ended up needing a motor now. So my buddy is swapping that for me. Since I’m handicapped currently
This one is slowly gonna turn into a nice daily/offroad prelander, as my gold one is going to get 1 ton axles and 40s eventually
