16's are going to be way to long for you, even if you had some simple 4.5" extended beams. you'd be fine with 14s.
i know you that you're just an excited high school kid, but just don't go blow your money on big "wazoo" parts to be able to say "you have__insert part name here__ that you're waiting to put on the truck"........... reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddddddddddddddddddddd and keep asking questions.

BUT YES. THIS THIS THIS.
I'm still very good friends with the shop and people from the first offroad shop i actually worked for at like, 16 i think? just started as a total bitch boy, then i got bumped way up to shipping and receiving guy! then i went to......... and so on.
it is a huge name now, but back then it was a fairly small offroad shop.
Super budget, find biggest diameter used smooth body shocks, install some factory 4x4 f150/bronco coil springs, alignment cams to fix camber.
Find some extended radius arms, Yes heim radius arms are best BUT for a budget and running factory springs get some extended radius arms like Tuff Country 24863 Radius arm Kit.

You can run stock pitman arm/steering just make sure to install limit straps to make sure nothing binds on them. For rear my brother ran stock leaf's, flipped shackles and a 2.0x14" smooth body on a simple bed cage and it worked decent.
If you are planning on upgrading it in the future, that's when I would suggest doing new fullsize D44 front and 8.8 rear, heim radius arms, etc since you will use them on the future upgrades too. But with the 3.slow keep it budget to have some fun and learn how to drive off-road with limited truck before going full kill on a prerunner with more power, 4.0 ranger or fullsize ttb with v8

when you say get the d44 and 8.8 rear, is that part of the "budget limited" build you talked about after?
or is that just if im going to later upgrade to full prerunner? because if "budget limited" means just shocks, radius arms, basic stiffer springs and alignment stuff, ect. then I will just do that. This platform (4x4, 3.0, beat to sht ) is not what I want my big boy ranger to be so I like the advice of "learn to drive first then upgrade"
There is so much to choose from and for now I think I have a solid starter direction to go from so thank you, I will start with that!

Id only do the d44 front and fullsize rear since you'll need new wheels, if you are planning on building the truck further with coilovers and such. 3.0 budget learn how to drive id do 4x4 coils, alignment cams longer radius arms shocks and go. Flip shackles in rear with better shocks and find some f31 deavers used if you can, but they're gonna be in Cali most likely so pickup shipping kills most of the deals.

. I’m gathering parts for my budget Ranger if you want I can help you out! I’m just doing extended arms and Chevy 64 pack and explorer rear end. You should add me on instagram @Steezy.StoneThey're chevy 63" leafs. I ran them on my first prerunner. Worked better than stock toyota leafs but dont have much arch so I Frankenstein my yota leafs and chevy leafs to make a full pack. I also diamond cut ends of leafs with cutoff wheel and put new pads on the ends to help it slide easier to soften up the pack. The 63" chevy main leafs is thick and doesnt have much arch. You can "re-arch" the pack with a press and moving every couple inches to slowly bend the leafs more but that doesnt stay or last long one you run it.

I would look for a used autofab or even older fabtech kit for the front. if you build the suspension too much, the truck will feel even slower.Hey! for starters, I'm a beginner to the offroad/truck building world but I've got a manual, 4wd, 1994 ranger extended cab. It's got the slowest 3.0 known to man becuase of a misfire that I don't know how to fix. its got minor body damage so its a good platform for a cheap prerunner build. I don't need to race or do anything crazy I just want to be able to hoon around with friends and do desert runs nearby so an overthetop build isn't needed. I would like to know though, what is the bare minimum I need to do to make my truck fun offroad?? I want to be able to take small jumps and basically get the best bang for buck out of it. Any ideas?? thanks in advance
then Id get some used smooth body shocks in a 2.0 or 2.5 size for the front and rear. the stock leafs and some lift coils in the front should be more than enough to have fun.
Last thing you need to do is buy some tune and start bending, welding. make the rear bed cage to support the shocks, and some hoops in the front for shocks.
the build can be the funnest part so take your time and don't rush it. After that, youll find what you need next as your offroading dictates. maybe seats so you dont go flying around in the cab. Maybe a cage if you feel like you are getting too wild.
