Toyota 8” rear end differential stud pattern

Anyone know where I can find the stud pattern template to use to create a block off plate?

I have a spare rear end im wanting to sand blast and I’d like to get a block off plate for the diff hole. I did this when I had a ford 9” housing sand blasted and it worked great I siliconed the plate ob and threaded the nuts down. I got the plate from summit or some place but don’t see anything for the Toyota 8”.

I’d probably leave it on pretty long term so covering the hole with tape or a cardboard template is do able but not ideal.

Trace the 3rd member if you have one?

E locker and non-elocker stud patterns are a little different by a couple studs when models came with the 8.4 and the e-locker 8" in '96+ for Tacomas, 4runners didn't come with an 8.4.

ECGS would be a good resource or even look up a gasket for your year make and model and see if you can get one for cheap or return it after tracing it?

I sent ECGS an email this morning. See what they say or if they have anything to recommend. I also emailed trail gear since they make a fabricated 8" housing maybe they can supply me with something since they already cut out the face plate for their axle housings.

im holding out hope that @BFAB Brian has the 8" diff face plate file or soemthing in his collection of parts, files and knowledge base since it doesnt seem like this is a very common want and trailgear isnt being to helpful even though they make 8" fabricated axle housings.

Or i just go cheap and easy and make a cardboard, duct tape and silicone faceplate. Im probably over thinking what i need to do but in my mind its the right thing to do.

Yeah and a piece of plexiglass and rtv will work to use with the gasket as a template if you can’t make one out of metal.

Well i do need wheel bearing kits for this housing does yotamasters have them in stock? I think i looked and it said not in stock so i was going to order stuff through yotashop. its for A 1996 4runner

this is a very good idea, i think i have lexan i could use.

Just a heads up, I haven't had a great time cutting/drilling polycarbonate (lexan). It wants to crack/chip. Not sure how to best do it without a laser. I use a zip disk on an angle grinder and that's the best I've been able to find so far.

Should be back in stock some time next week on the axle bearings, been waiting on our supplier to fill our backorder for a while. I've had good luck using HSS spotting bits like one would use in the lathe or mill to drill plexi, they stay sharp enough I get less cracks and fucked holes than regular drill bits

Have you tried a step bit? I haven’t either but I’d probably try that first and have a piece of wood right under whatever hole I’m drilling so it doesn’t twist. I had to make a bunch of holes in a sign I made for work a year ago and I think I had pretty good results like that. Also, other plastics like ABS could work - Amazon / eBay sell a bunch of different sizes and thicknesses.
