tie rod material

I am looking to use 1" x .250 wall 4130 tubing for tie rods. One end will be 3/4-16 threads so there will be .156 wall thickness1.125 at the threads other end will be M20 x 1.5 so there will be .136 wall thickness at the threads.

Should i bump up the OD of my tie rod material to 1 1/8 x .250 wall?

this is for a arm suspension not long I beam tie rods

i think mine have always been like 1.375 and 250 wall. pretty hefty stuff

For my tacoma kits I run 1-1/4" x .120 with weld in bungs. Never had a problem with them even with my 75mph rollover the tie rods were perfectly fine.

Tie rods deflect in the center then fold if they are too weak. 1" .250 wall will be fine especially for a short length like that.

I've only ran thicker .360 or .375 tubing for beams because the tie rods are much longer and will deflect and potentially stay bent even more.

Probably fine but why not do 1.125”? Almost entirely unrelated but the inner half of my tie rods are 1.5”x.090. Something like 11 or 12years and still going.
