@Endless Trails noticed his truck was pissing Coolant. He popped the hood and sure enough, the upper radiator hose had popped of the radiator.

after some heckling and a few gallons of coolant and additional water. KenVP got the hose reconnected and was back in business. We pressed on into Saline Valley.

This trip turned out to be exactly what I dreamed of. When we say “good dudes” it’s easy to gloss over what that actually means. The perfect balance of maturity with silliness, preparedness with flexibility. The desire for speed with the intelligence to not yardsale 300 miles from home. Men who love their children and invest endless wisdom into them. I don’t recall a single dude talking trash about his wife. The stories were PG when kids were around. The whiskey flowed but nobody devolved to keg stands (just me passing out with my moonshine birthday buzz).

Everyone’s kids were truly delightful. Spencer and Kevin’s wives are super cool. Radio communications were great and playful without crossing into boyscout Karen status.

I can’t say enough good things about this group. I can’t wait to do this again. Thank you all for trusting me and showing up with such limited information.

The road down was steep and windy Canyon that had a creek running with quite a bit of water in it. The trail crossed creek probably 5 or 6 times throughout the descent. Super cool seeing one of the driest places in the World. So full of color and water.

As we got closer to the valley floor Lance asked if I wanted to go ahead, to get some photos of everyone coming down..

This is what I came up with....

We had lunch and loaded back up for the climb out of the valley to higher elevation to get out of the heat temps 100ish and the wind!
Almost everyone's truck had an elevated temp gage. on the sand climb with a tail wind almost creating a zero airflow void in front of the trucks. The mouse was up around 230.

Epic trip
Lost a radiator hose, drivers bedside top needs fixed, fridge won't cool below 30, and the tote for my Blackstone went into multiple pieces. But we had lots of rad miles, 1000 smiles, and more than enough laughs.
I want to thank #howlcampfires and ##loamcoffee for supporting the trip. 😁

One for the books. Definitely a learning experience. Such a great group of humans. My Son Wes and I had a blast. Taking him to school this morning we reflected on the trip the whole drive there. I can’t wait to prep for the next one!
