Let me take you on a journey from the beginning.

I was looking for a Tacoma originally but I came across this bad boy on race desert. Went by to check it out and it was so clean. I had to have it.

The ranger already had some solid parts on it. Camburg beams, super 8.8 rear end, f31’s, 33x10.5 tires and some sick custom bead locked ar23’s and some little 10” race runners in the front and 14” bypasses in the rear. Also came with a cool little center console.

Throughout high school and college I drove this truck as my daily and beat the shit out of it.

Enjoy some pictures and videos of the truck:

Some pics are from the previous owner.

The build really started when I got rear ended coming home from Barstow.

My little ranger totaled the tundra. But my rangers passenger frame rail got bent so bad that the leaf springs wouldn’t cycle properly so it was time to cut it all off and start fresh.

I picked up a giant 64” spring under kit, 2.5x4.0 bump stops and some 3.0x18 king triple bypasses 👀

Then the rear was super gnarly so I decided to just upgrade the front suspension too 😂

Ended up getting some locked 2.5x2.5 bump stops, king 2.5x14” coilovers and a new engine cage built and ditched those old shock hoops.

The front end went from pulling 12” of travel to 21” metal to metal and we strapped it up at 18”.

good times

I decided to finally cage the truck since everyone was telling me I was going way too fast for not having a cage 😂. So I ended up going with a solo cage and I started cutting, grinding and welding.

But then the fuckin sawzall slipped and the engine fell out… and all of a sudden a 6.0l appeared in my backyard 😅

That is how it’s currently sitting. The plan is keep the 6.0 stock (maybe a cam) and turbo 400. I know the little 8.8 won’t last so I’m looking at rear end options currently, so… might as well look into new beams too. It snowballed so fast 😂. I’ll keep the build thread updated whenever I make real progress.

If you guys have any questions or just want to chat you can find me here or ig 👌🏼 hope you guys enjoy the build. 🤘🏼🇺🇸

that's quite the snowball. what do you plan to do for engine management? Why not 4l80 for that overdrive?

I am going to use the stock harness and keep the 6.0l stock. The plan was originally to put a 4l80 in it but in the end turbo 400’s are stronger and way cheaper. But the real reason is because it fits in my trans tunnel without me having to cut out the factor sheet metal. It’s already snowballed far enough haha I don’t need it to anymore. I just want to get the truck back together and have it be as reliable as possible.

Below is a 4L80 on the left and a TH400 on the right. Same outside dimensions. 4L80 is just a wee bit longer. But my badass machinist, just made me a super short tailhousing that will make the 4L80 the same length as the TH400. No mods required. Let me know if you need a transmission or any help.
