Random Projects

That’s awesome. 2024 has been a fantastic year for vintage trucks. NORRA had like 5 OG badass trucks racing for the first time in forever. Arnold, black Diamond, a Dave Clarke truck, Briggs truck which was originally built by Dale White if I remember correctly. And the Simon and Simon truck which was fucking rad to see racing again! I love old trucks!!

Did Lafortune do the work of deleting the frame rails on the Briggs truck or was that previously done? Can’t remember that one

It was “full frame” when it came into the shop. Even now it has frame rails from the bumper to the back of the cab. You are correct on it being built by dale white. As odd as it sounds it started life as a solid axle blazer, then an IFS blazer, then was extended and converted to a truck for class 8.
He didn’t race the norra 1000, had a few hiccups along the way. The truck was running in time but SDG couldn’t get us in for shock tuning before. First “race” was glen Helen then Vegas to Reno. Entered trophy truck and placed 5th with only 200 test miles on the truck.

So got dragged into helping build a buddies 93 k2500 SCLB for some reason lol it'll be pretty rad when it's done it was originally a military truck with a 6.5 diesel with a bunch of goodies that now makes around 450hp and 750 ft/lbs but the back for now is f70 deavers w 3.0 4 tube kings and 4 inch stroke bumps and a 42 gallon suburban tank with hangars and shackles (the ones in pics are for mock up playing with angle / spring load ) this will be the first truck I've built on like 6 or 7 years and his first so it's been cool teaching and relearning lol especially since when I built my old chevy in 2013 there was almost nothing for info on building these things. The front end for this season will just be a 2.5 c/o and an upper arm as he wants to beam it next summer.

I was posting work related projects in the “What do you do for work” thread but I’ll start posting cool work projects here. Got a call from Hellwig Products last week asking if I’d help them set up a new truck they planned to take to SEMA this year. Of course I jumped on it. I’ve never been to SEMA but I assume this would be the standard type of truck you’d see there on display. Still cool to have a hand in it. 2024 Ram 1500 Black Widow edition getting Fox 3.0 coilovers, BDS upper control arms, rear 2.5 Fox resi shocks, Firestone rear air springs and the new Firestone wireless on board air system. Gonna knock it out in the next few days. I’ll post updated pics. The camper on this thing is super sick.
