Project 69

Once I was done with the CAD design it was time to make a template for the main tubes. Holy shit, this roof has 2 different diameter rolls and a bend on the end.

Started on the steering, the HAAS is just magical for these kind of projects.

I highly recommend to run the ground cable through your Heim joints when you're welding, that way it completely fucks your brand new $80 Heim. We going to pretend that we didn't see that and keep going, the excessive steering wheel play will remind us to replace it later. I'm brofessional after all.

So did you narrow up the chassis you had to fit the bug body? When you had it sitting in there it was a bit wider, or did you just start over?

Having everything laser cut is definitely the way to go. Fits together like Legos

My driveway mounted tube bending operation definitely get some looks and upsets the HOA.

Well, got a new job and moving into a smaller place in a different city. Project 69 can't doesn't fit in the new house so I sweet talked my buddy Turboyota into letting me finish this in his shop. It will only take a few more weeks I said, it's basically done, I even have the engine, trust me.

New home, we had to let them meet outside first so that they could get used to each other. I can already tell that I'm going to be sooo much faster. I mean look at it

Playing around with the idea of making it a 3 seater and center steer. Pretty cool idea, until you have people sitting in there with you and all you see is hairy legs next to you. Felt really lonesome up there, on the bright side , if you're into weird stuff, you could just do the cross country skiing. Not my style so I abandoned that idea

Fuck yeah! They’re gonna be great friends.

This fucking guy, all I need you to do is to hold it there for me, I'm trying to take progress pictures. Temp mounted the coilovers trying to figure where they'll go.
Fucks yelled 100
Ugly faces in pictures 1, come to think of it it's probably why my phone broke.
Beers drank, lost count, but it was good.

Moving back to the front while I wait for my bypasses to show up. Finished some of the front tubes and was able to do some more CAD work with the Home Depo painters tape.

Made a bracket for the pedal assembly and tacked into place. Noticed that the clutch is a bit close to the tube and it might interfere with my foot while shifting. We are going to pretend we didn't see that and act surprised if and when my foot hits the tube and deal with it then.

It was time to test fit the fiberglass bonnet (that hood in the queens English) so I temp installed the front suspension and it hits like a Cobra malt liquor on Sunday morning. Don't ask.

So I got the Home Depot tape out once again and found center line, best I could I was probably drunk. Drew some fancy lines with the sharpie and started cutting. It actually came out pretty good. It's not hitting anymore.
