posting for a buddy on here and was curious if any of you could help him out. He’s got a 96 4wd 4 runner with bilsteins and Camburg uppers with the uniball conversion. This is now his second time blowing out his uniball and was wondering if anyone out there knows a permanent fix for this? He’s gone through 2 sets of spindles and I just want to lead him in the right direction before he goes and buys a 3 rd set IMG_9627.jpegIMG_9628.jpeg

Has he been using c-clips on the slug? Is the lower spacer fitting snugly into the top of the slug?

A sligtly wider foot print (snap ring) may work, or perhaps the grove being poi ted at may be abit worn, causing it to slip out.

Haha I'm the new guy bottom of the totem pole I ain't got pull like that. Also some parts are discount excluded too which sucks, but if you guys run into that just slide into my DM's and i'll see what I can do for ya

all the ones I have seen with those slugs, they are welded in as mentioned above, I would also put a spindle gusset on while your at it! If you guys need any help I have a few openings for smaller jobs like this! Have plenty of experience with toyotas 🏁

One other thing to look at is the inner fender well.. see if there’s marks from the upper arm hitting it. If you beat on these hard enough, the upper misalign/bolt will hit the inner fender well at full bump and that will push the slug through the spindle.

My SPC uppers eat the inner fender on my 4Runner. Perfect dent from the curve and if you look closely you can see the imprint from the zerk.
