My best friends brother had a prett sweet bronco when we were kids and I wanted one ever since. My buddy from work showed me an 88 that was for sale for 1100 bucks i wanted it so bad but my wife at the time was such a heinous bitch I didnt bother trying. My buddy ended up buying it and I was jealous. It had issues and i helped him fix a few. He drove it for about a year and the transmisssion gave up. Turns out it had a car filter in it so it had to be significantly over filled to actually draw up the fluid. He was going to shit can it and I jokingly offered him $150 he said $187 and we have a deal.

when I first got it in august 2015

it was pretty rough kid and the dog loved it though! 20150829_094822.jpg

I figured out about the trans filter and changed it. i was able to drive it but the transmission had already been hurt. The little bit i was able to drive it scared the shit out of me. every bushing was shot and it was all over the place. I decided to atleast make it look better while it sat in my drive way til i got a "new" transmission. I cut off all the hackey junk and ditched the body lift I made raduis arms and a rear bumper. I got a free hood and some hacked up fenders for $50.

I found some alcoas for cheap and cleaned them up so ! could ditch the 15x14 enkeis. also sold another project so i was able to buy some super sick FOA shocks. I did my best building an engine cage without a bender and C&T the beams converted to uniball and extended them 2" and did some plating. I also broke the bell housing off my "new" C6 cause im a retard. it got glued back on with alumaweld :ROFLMAO:

Damn you finding good deals 😂I’ve been needing a fiberglass hood to replace my steel one

attemped a solo trip to do mojave road for my bday in 2020. Got stranded in our airbnb in newberry springs beacuse my power master alternator took a shit and fried my battery. someone was nice enough to bring me a couple alternators from barstow. they also brought us dinner from peggy sue when they heard our new goal was getting to the gas station to have subway for dinner. i was able take the 3 alternators apart to make one work to drive home. autozone battery warrenty came in clutch. Got a pic at the barstow del20201228_172934.jpg

Here it is currently. I found the soft top on FB market place for $100 so I decided to rock it... its the rampage brand and after 2 years on the truck its starting to take a shit. my gardener broke the side glass on my hard top so i need to find a new piece. last april a change in elevation burped a bunch of gas out of a gas can in the cargo area and gave me a really bad headache so decided to make the swing out tire carrier. pretty happy with it and it freed up a lot of space in the back. It drove to Koh and back and survived a minor beating there only casualty was a 7 year old tire. Ive been meaning to take it apart and paint the chassis and stuff for the last 2 years... maybe next year

I like your tire carrier rack, did you pick up the cage at all?
If not, do you have any concerns about it when you get into the rough stuff.

I’m probably going to copy your design 😬

Its not caged yet... I really should do that soon. I tried to replicate how the stock swing out mounts were tied into the the quarter pannel on the opposite side. I also tied both sides through into the tailgate jam area. It has survived some pretty rough use so far without signs of failure. The bed sides do sag a bit when you swing the carrier around. I think a hard top would probably help with that.
