I've been running Mojave Road every year for 20 years now and I realized that streak was at risk, so why not cram in one more thing to do in December? Details are below if anyone wants to come along. Bringing the family along for the first time in a new rig so will be taking it easy and enjoying all the sights. Taking the bypass around the wet lake bed through the dunes but they should be moist and 2wd doable this time of year. Starting Saturday morning, spending the night on the trail, and pulling into Laughlin midday Sunday for some bowling and sushi. Taking dirt to hole in the wall then Kelso depot on Monday. Weather should be perfect, clear after the rain with tepid temps and wind.

WHO: Family of 5 with teens/preteen in a 4wd Sequoia
WHAT: Seeing all the sights on Mojave Rd that I've enjoyed over the years
WHERE: Meet up at Robertiroz in Barstow for breakfast burritos on Saturday, make a reservation at the Edgewater in Laughlin for Sunday
WHEN: December 26-28, Saturday through Monday
WHY: Family friendly sight and desert exploration.

It's good to see some interest, stoked for all that can join.

Looks like I'll need to find a bigger campsite for Saturday night but that won't be a problem.

Any special requests for sights to see? So far the list looks like below:

Saturday-
-Buried Houses
-Sand Cliffs
-Spooky Canyon
-RR trestle
-RR cut
-Lava Tube
-Mailbox
-Marl Spring

Sunday
-Rock Spring
-Watson Wash
-Joshua Tree Forest
-Penny Tree
-Balancing Rock

Monday
-Hole in the Wall
-Colombia gold Mine
-Kelso Depot

Skipping
-Traveler's Monument due to mud
-Caruther's canyon due to fire damage and no rock crawlers
-Fort Piute unless somebody really wants to

That's the right call to avoid the lake bed, you can make it to the Rock Monument but anything after is extremely soft & muddy. 2wd will be okay!

Not going to make it…truck still in pieces. Wyatt is bummed, he had so much fun with Seth at Briggs Camp.

Sounds like an awesome time.

Was that you in the Sequioa at Crawlers & Coffee. I swear I recognized you, lol!
Yeah it was. Son wanted to go R/C and I wanted to smash more rocks so it worked out. Had fun breaking everything we brought, rashed the Sequoia a bit, and won a new car in the raffle so it was a good time!
