Has any one used nascar sway bars?

Just seeing if I’m going down a road that shouldn’t be traveled. I’ve seen these sway bars everywhere used for cheap. They range from as small as 7/8” all the way up to 2”. I bought one off eBay to try. The arms are 4130 so I should be able to just use them as slugs and make the rest of the arms.IMG_8334.jpegIMG_8333.jpeg

the only difference I can think of is the movement of off-road suspension is far more more dynamic than a nascar. but if the price is right why not try it

I got this one for $125. It’s 1.5” on the ends and steps up to 1.75”. Might buy one that’s 1.5” the whole way.

I like to look at that surplus NASCAR stuff, the brake calipers are the most enticing

ive snapped the aluminum arms and hollow bars meant for stock cars they dont seem to be up to the rigors of offroad from my experiences

I ran a similar bar on my OLD 1450 race truck and the splines striped out of the bar. SO i ran double sway bar arms to get twice the splines and it worked after that. The arm and splines are too thin to handle the loads and twist our trucks see.

was going to say the same thing, lots of people tried these years ago and the response was the splines stripping out

Well dang. It’s all done and the 1-3/4 way too stiff. I’m going down to the 1-1/2” bar. Hope it lives.

Yeah that's a stiff bar. Mine is 1-1/4" x 39" long and the arms are 28" long. My last truck had 53" bar with 1-1/8" bar and 26" arms and worked good. Main thing with those trucks is the geometry of the links the sway bar just makes the sway more consistent doesn't necessarily stop it much.

Awesome thank you for the advice. I have a 1-1/4” bar. That’s my smallest bar. I will throw that on. Right now the truck acts like a quad.
