I had a 1999 6.5 suburban that I built with the intention of being a deep wilderness reliable camp rig, so I SAS'd it, put it on tons, PSC assist, then the "might as wells" crept in and eventually the entire thing was redone, including a ppump 6BT and NV4500 swap. I was dallying it for awhile, and it one thing after another, so I sold it in 2022 and found this truck on race dez classifieds.
Had ALL the off-road accoutrements: Carli bypass coilover kit, long travel bags, ARB lockers front and rear, winch, built-in radar detector, stereo, etc. Went to Colorado Springs, drove it back, and it was pretty neglected. Not awful, but definitely neglected. Most notably, a coil was cracked all the way through at the bottom. It took awhile to get my shit together, but it's getting cleaner.
As I got it:

I've been picking away at it more and more lately. Got rid of the Toyo MT's and American Force 18s, picked up some 39" Projects and KMC Enduro beadlocks last year, which changed it a ton for the better.

Mechanical fixes are the standard shit that people just let go too long. New u joints, new rear drive shaft, all fluid flushes, new wheel bearings, new brakes, new parking brakes, got all the shocks rebuilt by Roth Shocks when he was on his Norcal tour last October.
More recently, I removed the front fender flares, I think I kept them on so long because the bedsides are pulled and it'd look weird. Nah, way better without. Fiberwerx fenders are on the list.

Also got new Gladiator AT 40s. They're super smooth and quiet. MTs look cool, but I don't need those beehives in my wheelwells. Projects look great, but they're awful everywhere except the desert.

Most recently, I just redid all the steering. PMF draglink, WFO 2.0 .250 wall tie rod, PSC ram, and a box ported by CJ Auto in Southgate. It's so nice.

I have a laundry list of stuff to do. This should be a good place to document it.
