I do not know why i am thinking about it but i have been thinking to much lately about my daily driver and making it more fun to daily drive and spending money on doing some bolt on performance parts.

Anyone know much about the fifty State legal Gen 3 LS Cams from Comp Cams? Information ive read says 30+ hp, stock tune and CARB legal. But they are $650. Is it worth it? I also bought JBA headers, going to re do the exhaust and look into a CARB legal intake system.

Trying to add HP / torque and make it a fun not off road oriented daily driver

A cam without a tune sounds like bullshit to me. I don’t see how that can gain much without adding air and fuel. Plus 30 HP (resumably at the crank) won’t do much and without a tune, chop will be minimal. For $650, plus possibly cam bearings, maybe push rods, etc. doesn’t sound worth it to me.

What about throwing a Maggie on top that is CARB legal?

650 is a lot of money for 30 horses IMO, I'm sure they could get it by modifying the valve overlap and other such things to increase the cylinder pressure while using the same air fuel charge, although that still leaves the timing curve to question - I'm no cam guru, but doesn't seem worth it to me.

supercharger money is not going to happen. Comp cams says the 30+ is to the rear wheels. Comp cams is a reputable company seems they would be pretty honest in their marketing id assume.

Putting a cam in without a tune would be a waste. Your stock cam tune won’t do any justice for a cam with different specs. The typical cam/ heads/ intake route is usually the way to go for the most bang for the buck and a noticeable boost in power.
