We have the east wood and use it for stainless an brake lines and oem double flare lines all the time . It works awesome. We have bothe degree die sets for it.

So question for you guys... brake lines in the spool... easy to straighten out? I have only ever bought it already straight... thoughts?

I hate the spool of stainless and needs to get one of those roller that straighten the line. I do only purchase the anealed stainless line in the spool. I prefer not to have unions in long runs if I can prevent it. Less fittings = less chances to leak in the future.
I manage to straighten it pretty good with a few tricks. Take a few pieces of trash 2x4 and drill a 1/4 inch hole after ur screw them together. Straighten enough line to get it started and then just pull in through. Get it pretty damn close and doesn't hurt the line. Pretty barbaric but works. 🤣

Why don’t any of you use stuff like swaglok? No flaring needed, it’s not cheap but it’s easy as hell to use.

It’s what I want to use for my brake lines, fuel lines, and trans lines when the time comes.

Anyone use this tool? Been wanting to get a rivnut tool for alittle while and I finally have a use for it. I’ve used manual insertion tools for one or two but this next thing I gotta do will require more and want to be able to do it faster and easier.
I have an amazon version of this with a few different dies. Works good, with the exception of when the material is too thick. but that is user error.

Buy straits. That rolled up crap sucks to straiten out. I go to Cal Time in Huntington Beach. 20' lengths but they'll cut them to manageable sizes for free. 316 grade 3/16 .028 wall.
When I went to G&J and got a 20’ stick they just made a cancer ribbon loop shape in the bed of my truck with it and it straightened out pretty nicely when I took it out. It’s now in my living room behind the couch waiting for me to get around to it haha.

The only problem I've ran into with the vertical version is space issues and not being able to get the leverage. Contrary, the rivet gun shaped version is usually pretty good for me (but having broke my hand twice, it can be a bit much). All that said, I prefer to use the ones from Mcmaster.

Granted, one tool is nearly the price as the HF/Amazon set but they offer them from 4-40 to 1/2.

Ive used the smittybilt version, they work great to get a lot of rivnuts done quickly. Then you dont have to worry about over tightening and breaking the bolt while installing manually. Doyle has heen a decent line from HF.
