Explorer shackle length

I am in the midst of collecting parts for a first gen explorer build. I have some G50E’s, and have been looking at different shackle options. Im seeing companies offering lengths in the 7.00”-9.500” range. What would be the advantage/ disadvantage of longer over shorter or vice versus? Thanks in advance

The only thing the shackle length changes is the lift height. I run a 6" shackle with the g50e's and have about a 3" lift over stock

Not true. Shackle length, keeping the same pivot location, changes shackle angle and actually affects rear suspension geometry. Most people don't study leaf springs like they do link systems, so they just run whatever length shackle, pivoting from wherever it needs to, to get them the most travel (myself included lol)

The wrong shackle length / angle could also put your spring in bind. I thought there was a shackle length calculator thread by maybe ADSRACINGSHOCKS but I cannot find it now.
