My wife has family in Atascadero and at least twice a year we drive from Phoenix to A-town. In the routing I generally do all I can to avoid LA, so I’ve been heading up through Yucca Valley, to Barstow, Barstow to Bakersfield through the tehachapis out to Paso Robles and south. I’ve become pretty familiar with the route school me on some cool places to stop along that route or nearby. Nothing too gnar but worth the stop. More less known things maybe?
