What’s the general consensus on drilling out steel wheels for 5/8 studs? If they were aluminum wheels I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I have hubs with 5/8 studs but my current steel wheels stud holes are not big enough to pass the 5/8 stud through them. Would you drill them out and open them up? Or I could possibly even just use a reamer.

Currently holes in wheels are just about .600 need to be about .670 for 5/8 studs.

I have the ability to chamfer the holes and drill them out so tools aren’t the issue.

If you push steel wheels too much you will crack and blow the wheel out over/around the lugs. By push, I mean really push sideways rally style. Seen it and it is not pretty.
