I currently own a 1991 Ford Ranger XLT (rwd not 4 wheel). I have like 4 grand to do a really basic front end setup to start my build. I was looking at the solo motorsports mid travel kit as its like 3.5k but I think its only 4wd. Any other options for me? Was thinking of extending my stock beams and buying solo radius arms. Also can someone explain what the difference is between Dana 35, 44, etc. Still figuring everything out! Any help appreciated thank you.

Check out Threat Motorsports. I believe he still sells affordable options for the 2nd ranger.

Giant. Geoff’s the man.

Otherwise fine take off stuff. Fabricated beams and deavers. Go out and have fun.

If you have a 2wd truck you won’t be having Dana 35 or 44 stuff until you get into different spindles. Different snouts and bearings on the Dana stuff. Fabricated spindles are pricey to use the Dana 44 stuff. I’ve heard people using f150 stuff on rangers but I don’t know anything about that.

I wish I had a giant motorsports level bank account lol

Go to your local junkyard and pull some kingpin beams from a 70 somethings front steer E-100. Cut and extend them. Make or buy beam brackets, Buy used coilovers.
Then throw an early 2000s E-150 8.8 in the back with some New spring perches. Probably under 4k right there.
Then sell the utv in your profile pic and gain more budget.

Im 16, the can am is my moms or it would've been gone a longgg time ago. Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about going to a junkyard and buying some old forged beams then having my buddy (a certified welder) extend them for me. Then run the giant motorsports engine cage and some extended radius arms. Trying to buy it all used if possible. But your way sounds a little easier. What is the advantage of me putting the 8.8 rear end in it? New to pre runner stuff so all your help is super appreciated.

The kingpin forged beams were cheaper by a few hundred dollars under D44 beams from the junkyard when I was looking. You just dont get the camber/caster adjustability out of the kingpin beams because no balljoints..
Make your own radius arms and brackets.
Then weld it all up and learn from your certified friend. You can do all the welding on your own vehicle without a cert, this isnt badlinesoshafines.com
The rear 8.8 will get you wider track width around 5” over per side and matching 5x5.5 bigger bolt pattern.

is there anything else I can get the rear end out of? Not seeing any E-150's in junkyards near me. The D44 Beams would come from an old F-150 right? The pickyourpart down the street from me has a 94 F-150 I could probably take the beams off of. Could I also just take the rear end out of the f-150 or is it different?

You can look for an econoline van with the 9" under it also 70's early 80's era. Or a bronco or f150 up to 96 have 8.8's that are wider then a ranger and have the 5x5.5 pattern. typically you can find bronco 8.8's for next to nothing cost they get swapped for 9" housing all the time by the bronco crowd. Maybe try calling solo or desolate they may have one or 10 laying around in the shop.

The reason i went with e-150 8.8 instead of bronco or f150 was because e-150 was widest and matched my 4.5” over (per side) beams.
Its actually almost an inch wider overall than my front trackwidth.

Found a dude on marketplaces selling a bronco 8.8 out of his 96 for like $500. Still trying to figure out what I'm going to do for the front end.
