When I was building a K5 of this vintage, I installed the 56” springs from the rear of a 2500 of the same square body vintage with the overload removed. The 52” springs are also a popular swap. The longer springs help with the shackle angle and will definitely help the ride quality. That project never got finished, but I definitely wasn’t the first to do a spring swap like that.So the front end rides like absolute crap and I haven’t really given it much thought other than that at some point I should get an alcan or deaver pack for the front if I don’t link it but anyone have thoughts on relocationg the shackle pivot? It appears to be just a bushing sleeve attached to a plate that’s riveted to the frame so it would t be hard to just move it forward, drill some holes and mount up a longer shackle. What should I consider if I did something like this? The pack is already flat enough that I don’t think pulling an overload would do much good for it.View attachment 53071View attachment 53070View attachment 53069
Yeah I’m thinking since I’ll likely link this thing in the front at least down the line I’ll do that with ORD’s hanger kit and try and use their shock towers for their coilover kit with some 14s just with no springs on em and the valving set more for leafs. I’m already pretty tired of how it rides as is lolWhen I was building a K5 of this vintage, I installed the 56” springs from the rear of a 2500 of the same square body vintage with the overload removed.
