I figured I should start a build thread on this ol' pickup.
A little history: This truck has been in the family since 91 or 92. It's my brother's old truck that my dad has been holding onto since 95. My dad never really used it other than hauling some trash back and forth from the dump and when he needed to do some work off road. My dad built front, rear bumper and a lumber rack for it but he never fixed any of the body damage from when my brother owned it nor did he ever wash or clean it. It has a salvage title, 4x4, 5-speed, single cab, bench seat, no frills 4-banger. Has about 160K miles on it. It's literally been sitting in the backyard of my folk's place for years. Every mechanical part (engine, drivetrain, diffs) leak oil but it's mechanically sound. Starts up, no problem.
My son just turned 14 and it's time to start thinking about getting him his first truck. Figured this would be the perfect truck for a first car. My dad was more than happy to have us take it off his hands.
The plan is to take all my old phase 1 suspension parts from T-Juan and put onto this truck. Blazeland 3+ control arms, sway-away torsion bars, Bilstein shocks, F55 Deaver leaf springs, T-100 front axles. I recently bought used doors, fiberglass front fenders and fiberglass hood. I also plan on replacing the front grill, bumper, turn signals, running lights with ebay stuff. I'm hoping to get my son to do most of the work or at least he can watch me do it and learn how to rip his truck apart.
Here's how we got it:

After I removed all the hundreds of pounds of steel bumper and rack.

Son and I tore apart the front end:

Progress is and will be slow on this truck. But the plan is to pick away at it when we have a free day here and there. I saw someone on FB was selling these cup holders and decided to make one. Then I tried out my upholstery skills again. It didn't turn out great but good enough. It's funny. I'm more worried about where my beers are going to be than getting the truck back together.
