Doesn't seem like there's many of these being built. I guess getting up to 13" from a +3 kit isn't that fun, my mid travel Ranger got that much metal to metal after some cutting. Is the coil spring rear suspension hard to deal with? I'm aware companies make new links and replacement springs. Seems like decent aftermarket support for bolt on accessories such as lights, exhaust, interior bits, etc.

Motor problems aside, whats the deal with these?
 
The 2nd gen trucks could pull 13" with just a coilover and uniball arm if I remember right. They were big boys from the factory, I would expect the 3rd gen to be similar but I don't know.

My dad had a 2nd Gen he bought new in 08 until 2 years ago when it just wasn’t worth putting any money into (truck lived in the rust belt and just couldn’t justify it at 220k miles). He bought a brand new 23 and kept it for 3 months before trading it in for a 21 with low miles. He really didn’t like the V6 for engine braking down long steep grades and the rear leg room was much less for the largest cab that came with a 6 foot bed. It had one of those annoying electric e-brakes that engages whenever you’re in park and won’t let go if the battery dies and the range sucked compared to his 2nd gens so he’d have to gas up whenever he was in the middle of nowhere instead of making it to his usual spots he filled up at. I know this doesn’t apply to prerunners, but he didn’t like towing with it like he can with the 5.7.
 
Valid points. What trim level did your dad have? Everyone seems to say the hybrid trims are better due to the added torque even though fuel economy doesn't improve and under seat rear storage is gone. I'll have to check rear seat room on the crew cabs to see what they're actually like, I haven't been back there for any extended amount of time or with a car seat. I won't be towing nearly ever, which is the main reason I'm wanting to go from my diesel 2500 to a gas full size truck.

There was a guy on DR that had a white 2nd gen when they first came out, I remember him noting the "LT" kit he had from TC or burg only got 12" travel. That was several years and a few concussions ago so I might be misremembering.
