3 Day Bronco Build!

Don't have either rears to confirm but from a little research, srw 10.25's measure about 65" and bronco 8.8's also measure about 65" so yes.
The guy I bought the rear end off said it was narrowed to fit the Bronco. So I don't actually know.

But it does have Custom axles so it's the factory Bronco 5x5.5"

As in I just kept thinking it was haha.

Mikey pointed out that it is not with a picture and well. Now I need to figure out exactly what it is.
Its a semi float. Axle bolts to the hub rather then sliding into a drive plate with a hub cap. Its plenty strong under a bronco and i'll bet you have zero issues with it. Party on!

Clean Bronco build. what length are the front coilovers and does he sell those coilover buckets. I'm in the process of putting together my front end and trying to fit 14 inch 3.0s is proving to be tough for me, probably because I'm dumb. Anyways this thing is kicking my ass so something that bolted on would speed up my life right now a lot.

Richer Racing offers a bolt on shock tower designed for 3.0x14 coil overs. Also I believe @Giant Geoff shock towers work for 14's.

How's the bronco working with all the suspension done on it. We gonna see photos of it in action anytime soon?

She works great dude.

So the shock package was straight from King. Their sales Rep Brian (still works there) had a bronco at the time and gave me the same valving he had set up on his stock width rad bronco.

It does need tuning in of course AND I'm just not confident in driving the truck yet. I've pretty much spent most of my miles behind a very under-powered truck with different driving characteristics.

So... She's basically a big old couch. I'll get her dialed in slower to my driving style but I've just been super busy with work over the last 6 months i guess.

Well I've brought the fail on this build thread... 6 Months later update but really more like a year.

So I got the call from Mikey that the Bronco was finish and went to pick it up!

3 hours later it was home.

1736349832791.png

Quickly found a few issues. Main one being the Cooling system. All freeze plugs needed to be replaced.
I replaced 1. Drove it on a few trips and then replaced the all of them at a later date.

1736349877079.png

Did some other tune up stuff like a new distributor cap and things...

Blood sweat and tears...

1736349995613.png

Made some adjustments.

1736350049161.png

Started to clean up the bronco's interior

1736350098060.png

Found this neat little guy. Going to frame it one day.

1736350130715.png

Pressure washing after a soap bath works pretty good.

1736350148882.png

Thought this would be a rad thing and looked cool. Butttttttt Something is not right with the wiring on the factory plug and I need to figure it out.

1736350183793.png

Mounted my switch Pro's in the wrong spot... DON'T DO THIS.

Luckily I caught it when I was closing the hood slowly. It would have broke the unit in half if I would have slammed it.

Continued...

Bought this Cutless Designs Ranger Light mount. I made it work on the bronco. A little grinding and drilling new holes in the bronco's fiberglass.

@marcytech @Baja Designs

1736350418933.png

1736350446577.png

Mounted the Rugged Radios set up in the factory center consol. I like them covered because I usually have a dog with me.

1736350513373.png

Getting the interior set up for Tire mounts and Fridge Mount.

1736350544910.png

1736350560610.png

Then I took it on its first trip. KOH for 10ish days. I babied it because I needed it to be my daily driver to get me to and from work at Hammer Town.

She really did work great out of the box. I haven't touched a tube yet on it and I'm pretty happy with it over all at this point.

I made a light bar and mounted LP6 lights I've had for a while. More then enough light! @Baja Designs

1736350712611.png

1736350763531.png

Then took it on another trip to Glamis. She did great again all weekend but then had a transmission issue. More of that to come later.

1736350819681.png

Got 'Walforded' as @dwphoto would say.

Leaf spring clip walked it's way up and then the leaf spring calked sideways and ripped a perfectly good tire up.

Also note I did not have a jack with me... this is when I found out I had left it at home. So I improvised with the camper jack pads.

1736350855033.png

Then we took another trip to 'Rock Crawl' in Sand Hollow.

Big group of us. Read the trip report here: BLGT Sand Hollow Trip

Just my daughter and I ripping up the trails all weekend!

1736350962745.png

Truck did great up until this point.

1736351056831.png

Got hung up on a rock here somehow.

1736351611178.png

1736351664089.png

1736351691089.png

Then somewhere between here and the next picture I clipped a rock on the rear... She's a big girl and I don't rock crawl haha.

1736351136679.png

The truck randomly died after this. It would turn over but wouldn't start... Well shit.

Scott suggested we just reset the computer and we did so by unhooking the neg battery cable. It worked. Truck hasn't had that issue since haha.

Kiddo's at the falls.

1736351275579.png

This place was so cool. Bronco overall did great!

Zero issues with the tow truck and trailer.

Me and the kid had a few words though haha. It was a long drive for a 4 year old.

1736352005543.png

Drove it around town for a few weeks to try and make sure everything was good.

Bent Motorsports Tuesday Night parking lot meet.

1736352056942.png

Then I took it out to the @Cleandezert evert. Truck did great that weekend. Zero issues!

1736352154816.png

Camper, Truck, and Trailer all did great.

1736352174384.png

Then took it out for Thanksgiving. Truck did great on this trip as well!

1736352214801.png

Took it on another trip out the following weekend to the Sons Of Smokey Johnson Valley Clean up. The truck had a transmission issue kind of early in the day on Saturday. Basically in limp mode and O/D light flashing.

Towed @4lowlance back to camp.

Found him stranded in the middle of no where by himself with his daughter haha.

1736352439824.png

A few weeks later I decided to try and figure it out. Pulled codes and started troubleshooting.

1736352367526.png

Wiring was weird and then some cracked wires.

Ended up finding that the plug was bad and not holding in the pins correctly allowing them to walk back. SO when it got really bumpy in the sand wash it will the wire out of the plug.

Checked for continuity and it was good so I just put some shrink wrap on the wires and installed a new plug and neutral safety switch.

So picture below shows the wires are in the incorrect spot...

After you take the plastic clip off the wires were actually in a different order. SO they put them cap on wrong and then just forced it on.

Put a little work in on Friday night and Saturday morning before I headed out to Tommy's to help build the Cans for KOH.

I ended up picking up a bumper for the Bronco.

Unfortunately this tried and true bumper had to go.

1736795534259.png
1736795553307.png

Cleaned up the factory frame.

1736795581373.png

Test fitting new bumper.

1736795608524.png

I think she hangs a little low for my liking and I'll probably cut her down by 1.5" off the very bottom. More to come with that.

Also worked on some electrical stuff.

I find it more fun to work on at night when you can see how well the new lights work.

First project was a bulb that had gotten melted and stuck in the passenger side door. Swapped to LED

I had to get creative to pull it out without breaking the bulb.

1736795786297.png

Factory vs LED

1736795868824.png

1736795886711.png

Everything matched now

1736795905762.png

Then I started to tackle the rear Cabin light.

I swore there was an issue with a factory wiring and not enough resistence with the LED light from Baja designs.
Now I'm pretty sure the Baja Designs light was just bad. (NOT BRAND NEW)

Anyways... replaced it with an older light and she's working again.

1736796012651.png

1736796038789.png

Also hard Wired the WolfBox rear view mirror in vs using the Cig lighter. Will clean up and hide wiring later.

1736796108885.png

And finally replaced the factory Power Supply with a more usable Charging por.
