OK 1995 ford f150 5.8 4x4. "Mild" build compared to me other 1968 f250 prerunner. Using some parts I had in my inventory for future builds in king coilovers fox air bumps heims etc. Truck is going to Stock width stock body. 35" tires. Cut and turned beams 5.13 gears king 2.5 coilovers front with fox air bumps wjth 5/8" studs to match rear axle. Rear is going to have a 9in with 5.13 gears 5/8" studs that I'll swapped in that i acquired in trade to @the_fablab_ for the awesome explorer he's building thay i had for sale. Also got a 5.13 front diff from him as well in trade. At the leduc swapmeet I traded @Giant Geoff some Beard seats I had for his 4 link brackets for the rear. I will be cutting off leaf spring mounts from the rearend and getting it tabbed our for the 4 link. I'll install the 4 link AND a Bronco BW1356 manual shift t-case I have along with a Solo Motorsports VSS relocator which is required to keep the E4OD transmission shifting correctly. While it's in my shop I'll be getting the bronco driveshaft extended to fit the f-150 with the 9in rear axle along with brake lines and everything. I'll get it driving with some blocks between the axle and frame to keep it off full bump. Then I want to keep the stock bed as uncut as possible so with @the_fablab_ help and his expertise in cantilever action we will get the shocks mounted up outside the frame behind the axle.

Truck had 301k miles when I bought it from tow yard with a blown up rear end and a homemade camper that was full of trash and non perishable food. When bringing it home I unloaded it from my trailer. Took the lien sale paperwork to the dmv to get it registered in my name. I then found out it came from Georgia and never been in the Cali DMV system. So I then needed to get the weight and vin verification then smog to get it registered in my name.

Before swapping in the new used rear axle I had for it I decided to unload the truck and throw away the camper. I found the reason the rear-end was blown up, I dumped 3100 lbs from the bed and cab with the camper and all the trash in this truck. I found fliers for church camps and paperwork from churches as well. I'm assuming the guy lived in it and drove across the country because it somehow got to Cali. I found church paperwork in it from Texas, New Mexico and Cali

Now onto swapping the rear-end. Got that in and drove it out of the shop. Then I decided to check fluids and make sure it's all gold. Radiator was empty so I filled it up with water and immediately it was leaking out the rear freeze plug on driver side of the block. So I parked it waiting to finish the 92 ranger on the lift in my shop. Got that done and pulled it into the shop. Got it on the lift and was checking over the motor and saw the factory oil cooler adapter on the block was leaking oil and the lower radiator hose adapter was leaking coolant too. So I knocked out the freeze plug and installed a new brass freeze plug I had in stock that the previous owner of my house had in a cabinet in the shop. Deleted the oil cooler hose piece on lower radiator hose. Swapped in a bronco dual row radiator and bronco lower radiator hose to maximize cooling in the truck.

Drove it for 2 days and came out of post office and noticed it leaking more water. Added water to radiator and drove it home the 5 miles. Crawled looking for where the water was leaking on passenger side of the motor. Freeze plugs on side of block were good but there is one of rear of each head. Used a mirror and saw it leaked from passenger rear head freeze plug. I then decided to just replace the 301k mile 5.8 motor with another 5.8 that would be lower motor. So I always have ford trucks in my personal junkyard. I found an 87 Bronco, which ended up being a roll-a-long model with a 94 truck 5.8 motor swapped in it. Motor was super clean no sign of oil leaks or anything. The truck motor swapped into this bronco was from an XLT so it has the factory tach so swapped that into this truck as well to get rid of the basic XL cluster it had. Couldn't read the miles when I bought the Bronco because cluster was so full of dirt. Cleaned the cluster perfectly before installing it in the truck and was pleasantly surprised when it only has 70,380 miles. Winning. Bronco had no windows but ran and drove. Swapped in that motor along with new water pump and t-stat on motor when it was on the engine stand and all was good for 2 days until the front tank fuel pump died. Pulled bed and installed 2 new pumps. Truck still wouldn't run and realized after working on it for a couple days was that the gas I got from local gas station ended up being bad. Switched to rear tank old gas with new pump and truck started up. Drove it to get it smogged and all was good.

Sorry for the long ramble but this truck has been a long process to get to the point of it running and driving good. The build starts now.

Old motor out and on the stand. Now I have all the spare parts I could need for my truck if I have a problem in the future with anything.

OK motor is in drove it to get smogged and passed no problem. Got it registered then started modifications. First up was ditch dual tanks so I could start in this "mild" build which will involve a 4 link out back. Ditched the air bags the truck had on rear whole bed was off.

Installed a 33 gal bronco gas tank out back. This required ditching the spare and a couple mounts that bolted to factory rear tank strap mount and a front angle iron mount between the frame to bolt the factory bronco skid up. Then I had to cut the crossmember off the bottom of the bed since it hit the top of the tank. No good photos of those items but I'll get some when bed comes off to build it more. Made a fuel pump wiring adapter from factory f150 round plug to the bronco wide 4 plug.

Ok so now that the truck is running and driving I drove it up to El Capitan State Beach to go camping with my family for a couple days. On the way up I brought @the_fablab_ a 20" disc sander I found on marketplace for him and I picked up 4 17" method beadlocks I got in partial trade for some parts from a truck in my personal junkyard.

I then made plans with @the_fablab_ again who was very nice and offered his open lift 2 weekends ago for me to bring the truck in and get the front end built. I got some Solo Radius arms a while back for future plans on this truck. I then cut out and built some shock towers for this that are similar to some other's that companies made but we changed the design a little bit to clear everything a little better and made them out of 1/4" plate to make them even stronger. Got the beams cut and turned, towers and radius arms on. Quick toe adjust since spring adjusters are all the way up because stock rear suspensions still. Got it out of his shop after a long Friday afternoon-Monday afternoon. Also after driving it home the pervious trip the truck's temp gauge would go up to L in NORMAL then drop down. Did this periodically from Lancaster until Adelanto where the truck died and wouldn't restart so I called AAA Chase truck and towed it home. Discovered the upper radiator hose was soft and no good and was collapsing until it got hot and pressure pumped it up to allow it to flow cooling off and the fan clutch was free spinning even when hot. So I replaced the upper hose and fan clutch and all seems well now.

Stoked for you buddy!

She's gone to a good home...

Sounds like i'm going to need to pull the motor if there are freeze plugs out back? I thought they were just on the side of the motor?

Yeah each headchas a freeze plug on the back. Driver side may be able to change un place pass side requires removal of head

Yeah I'm pretty good at the DMV paperwork now and getting pink slips in vehicles I acquire for my junkyard.

OK so got the 9in I got in trade from @the_fablab_ for a 94 explorer I had for sale. Tore it all down and cut off all the spring perches shock mounts and factory axle mounted sway bar. Had a few giuges from plamsa and cutoff wheel but got those welded up and ground smooth.

Getting this thing ready to tab for the 4 link so when I have the lift open I can get that in and cycling, along with front air bumps, straps, bronco t-case vvs relocation, punisher valve body and driveshaft measured.

It's still going to be built. This is just a quicker and easier project. Plus I'm getting back into youtube and I know that one will be a cool video series because it's so unique and awesome. I still have the shocks and front end and fiberglass for jt. I just need to get this going for next season and then finish my ford. Then customers projects projects to make money for the sequoia

OK got rear-end tabbed up. Not a fan of the upper link mount that looks scabbed k to rear-end. So probably gonna do some angled boxing on the sides to make it look and flow better with the rear axle. It's going to be partially hidden under the truck with full bed but when looking at it from behind I'm not a fan currently.

Well I was measuring more stuff on the truck and the ugly upper link mounts I welded fully on would be up in the bed 4" with axle hitting the frame metal to metal. So I cut that off and did conventional upper link mounts which resulted in 1-3/4" shorter. I'll be installing new thicker duro bumps anyways so it won't be a problem and I'll be doing a welded bump pad on the axle that will be 3/16" so worse case I'll limit up travel a bit to not have to cut into the middle of the bed. Existing billet fill cap isn't centered by 3/8" but still clears everything perfectly so win win.

Yeah and Now I have the files drawn and saved to remake this and ship to people if they want a kit. Some grinding and hammering/bending them along with some trimming with grinder to get it all to fit perfect like above.

Shoot me a PM if interested in this for a factory 9" with 2-5/8" width 3/4" bolts/

was gonna say something about height of first version... then scrolled down. hahah
