1985 Toyota ball joints?

Yeah, I searched first.

I'm building my first pre runner from my (previously lowered) 1985 Toyota 2WD. Think of an early 1450 truck, simplified Ivan Ironman Stewart stadium truck, if you will. Full interior, AC, etc.

I have purchased Hanneman fiberglass fenders, a trussed 8.8, Custom Tube Works lift spindes and upper A arms, a pair of 63" Chevrolet springs and Sky's Offroad Design rear spring kit. I'm in the process of putting everything together, but I'm stumped on ball joints.

I've been told Moog is the best, Moog is shit now, and 100 opinions in between. I ordered Moog upper ball joints, no problem, but Moog no longer offers lower ball joints. What are the best available lower BJ's? I'm not opposed to doing uni-ball lowers, but I need to get the truck together first.

Thoughts? Advice? No, I'm not going to beam and link this truck. At least for now.

Does Toyota still make them? If so, go that route. When debating on keeping my LBJ, straight from Toyota they were ~$100 each. Even at $200 each they’d likely be worth it over the uniball conversion for your truck.

FWIW I ended up going with the TC lower uniball conversion on my Tundra, but my truck parties hard and first gen Tundras are known to have LBJ issues (though I ran Moog for 8 years without issue) so I justified the ~$1100 price tag.

Thanks for this. I think Toyota still makes them, and Total Chaos confirmed a few minutes ago by phone that the OEM BJ's were the best option.

This truck won't party too hard. Bombing dirt roads mostly, I really don't beat on my stuff but I wouldn't mind catching a few feet of air with a soft touch down, LOL.

Where do you live? Longo in El Monte, Carson, and Simi Valley Toyota dealerships all sell parts online at a big discount and then you go pick up the parts at the dealership. Just put the part number in their site.

I agree go OEM for lbj’s and they’ll probably be a little more but totally higher quality.

There’s probably a dealership near you that does it if these are far.

Awesome, thank you so much!

I'm in St. George, Utah but get to So Cal regularly. Was in Azusa last week getting my fiberglass fenders.
