hey guys, has anyone put in a winters shifter in a 97-03 f150 before? im looking at one for my truck PN #327-1 just was curious if anyone has ran one or know of someone running one and their stock trans 4R70W

We ran one on our 5.4 but it had a 4r100. Not exactly the same but you should be fine. If u have overdrive u can wire it to a switch from what I remember based on the research I did 15 years ago.

little different part number but they say they work for the stock trans so im stoked!

i was just thinking that too Ryan i know when i was driving it the switch that was on top of the shifter broke but i spliced into it and extended it and drilled a hole in the cover the surrounds the steering column and mounted it there for the time being until i got it fixed correctly i would imagine i will do the same for the overdrive button

I would get the -3 Transgo kit so you can really control it and manually shift.
with this kit, is this something i can install myself? fairly simple to install or is this something that is needed to take and have done? i consider myself a decent mechanic ive built and worked on things myself and am a teardown mechanic in the aerospace world.

i know the trans was rebuilt by the pervious owner, he had it in his truck and had a shop rebuild it and install it and once he got it back notice a leak so he cried to daddy and his dad got him a new trans installed, they pulled this one and i got it. i knew where the issue was by what they were telliing me it was leaking from. it was the seal that sits behind the converter that got damage when they installed it so a quick 7 dollar fix and it was good to go. so it maybe has 400 miles on it since rebuild. it got parked because it snapped a snout on the passenger side and got another daily lol

Anything is possible. I think you'll have to tear the transmission apart on this kit but I am not positive. You can call and ask. Or find the install directions ha ha. They can be daunting. But doable lol.

I had to remove the valve body on mine but was able to do it with the trans in the truck. Idk what urs would consist of but it wasn't that complex. More just keeping all the little parts accounted for.
