Trails in the San Bernardino NF or Nearby for Spring Break (Dad and Daughter trip)

April 2nd - April 4th, I want to go on a camping trip with my 7-year-old daughter. Anyone have any recommendations for places that are interesting, off the beaten path (no tweakers), and somewhat close to the San Bernardino NF or that general area?

Check this out. Not sure if you're a fan of Trail Recon on YouTube, but they went from Pioneertown up to Burns Canyon via Burns Canyon Rd. Basically a mild trail that takes you through a mountain range that ends in between Big Bear and Johnson Valley. Definitely interested in doing this some day. Very Overlandish, but his videos are great quality and he always has some useful info about the trails he does. Get past the corniness and enjoy lol.

Burns Canyon is a good, scenic and pretty much easy trail. Anyone with AWD or 4wd can do it and probably anyone with a 2wd and some momentum can do it. Last time I did it (about a year ago) there was one really rutted out spot going uphill (probably from 2wd vehicles) that I could see being the only issue for anyone running a 2wd rig.

I watch a lot of his videos, although, he does less trail "recon" and more 2 week long adventures at this point in his Youtube/Retirement career.

If you ever want to "overland" it, let me know. It's not that long of a trail unfortunately, so we are looking at like 4-5 hours max to make it from Pappy and Harriets in Pioneertown to the Baldwin Lake area of Big Bear....I'd be down though.

Yeah, lol. He camped like right as he gained altitude into the pine forest. So maybe 2 hours from when you get to the trailhead lol. "OVERLAND"
