Trailers, what you got or want

Some nice trailers guys!!! What I’m learn I shoulda got one back when things were reasonably priced, now shit is pushing $7-8k up for what I think I need 😆
I swear trailers have doubled in less than a decade. I bought a pretty nice 18ft car hauler new in 2015 for $2800. I had a connection at a trailer dealership in UT for my gooseneck and was in it less than 11K... I've thought about downsizing but I wont pocket any cash now doing that so why bother?

....also I've found that when it comes to trailers, its almost worth it to buy new. every now and then a good deal comes along on CL or marketplace but you've gotta be ready to jump on it as soon as its posted. the closer you can buy a trailer to its manufacturer, the better the price will be. I see a lot of people drive to Texas to buy trailers and save a few bucks over the delivery to a local dealer.

We’ve got all kinds of different variations of trailers. Use a 35’ load max goose mostly for work (hauling big trucks) 18’ BP flatbed that just gets the piss beat out of it for grunt work. Enclosed trailers etc. they all have their perks but if I wanted a 1 trailer does all a 20-22’ bumper pull flat bed with drive over fenders would be it. I’ve ran PJ, Diamond C, load max, big Tex. Never had any issues with any of them.

Prices are nuts, I paid $5500 for my 2016 Load Max 35' and they're now going for 10k. paid $4200 for the 2022 24' enclosed, cant find another one under 8k

i just bought a new dump trailer for work from a company in san bernardino called Fractal Trailers. They make some nice enclosed and flat beds too, pricing seems pretty reasonable.

so my friend is selling a 18' pj dove tail drive over fender. $9k he has had it for only a year. used only 3 times.

he bought a double cab chevy prerunner (steelnutz) a while back so he thinks the 18' trailer is not long enough so he picked up a 20' pj.

I rebuilt my regular car trailer into a deck over after I bent it. Probably going to build a new one from scratch in a few years. This is what I've learned so far:

Taller deckovers are nice when you have to drag your trailer out to the middle of nowhere. They don't drag or catch on things.

102" wide is annoying, especially in Baja. 96" is better number.

Axles narrower than the deck (same trackwidth width as pickup) track nicer and allow you to use more of your lane. Also, tight corners with curbs are easier.

16" LT All Terrian tires last way longer in the sun and towing over 55 than trailer tires do.

Mount your tongue jack far enough back your tailgate can't touch it.

Shocks and tire balancing on trailers helps.

I’ve got a 2005 “something” 20ft flatbed. No damn clue the mfg and az title doesn’t say. She’s a twin 3500lbd axle wood deck flavor. Has dual spares, winch sits in the front tool box and she’s beat down. Pretty light duty rig, just one set of brakes, frame is all 1/4” 3x5 angle (may be thicker but doubt it), 2x8 boards and light duty ramps I’ve bent a few times.

At this point, brakes don’t work, only one tail light works, cross members have cracked or broke off, axles are bent from years of abuse (they U the wrong way lol), paints about sun baked off, boards are all about to break apart from dry rot, front jack is shot and hitch is about wore out.

About 2 years ago, I started looking at replacing it. Trailer pricing was nuts and said Fuck That, I’ll build this one better. So I bought a 2 5/16” 12k hitch for the front to replace the 2”, bigger jack for the front, two flip downs for the rear, new lights, new 6k axles and 6 new wheels, new 7 plug, box of screws, new springs, u bolts, and shackles and 7 sticks of 3x3 .120 wall square tube. Only thing I need is the wood deck.

Basically uprating this thing to a 10k trailer. I bought the trailer for 1k and I’ll have 2k in upgrading it. Just need to get my ass to doing it but ttb tracker sounds way more fun

One of the many times it was overloaded.

I’ve got a 16’ Carson deluxe. I believe they come in 18’ as well. 3500 pound axles

I started with the same trailer, I just drove over the fenders for a few years moving different trucks and hauling materials. I finally built ramps starting at the end of the dovetail to over top of the fenders and kept it at that level all the way forward. Has a winch and battery in the front flip up box part. Up graded the axles and springs to 14k, next is going to be a bigger Jack and some more secure storage

What are guys running for auxiliary fuel storage for their trailers? Looking to add a under deck tank.

This is my 400 dollar shit box trailer I bought off an old co worker the axels smile at you while you go down the road at some point I want to widen the deck and put bigger axels on it but until then it will remain a shitbox that flexes whenever you press on a corner
