Supercharged 4x4 ranger condensed version

Looks like this thread will start about the halfway point on this truck… been terrible about posting anything the last couple years really.

Truck is a supercharged 4.0l SOHC with a manual trans, 4wd linked and our Longtravel kit up front with a bumper to bumper cage, will dig through the archives and find as many pics as I can.

This was when we started making a spot for the tailgate to reattach to, that was one of the customers big requests, which came out pretty cool in the end.

probably the customers choice, i know, but WHY IN THE WORLD would they supercharge a fucking 4.0, for one, and a SOHC for 2?!??!

edit* i guess, maybe that's how the truck came to you/the customer and they're just adding on to that??
 
Made engine and trans solid mounts, stainless exhaust with high flow cats into a single borla muffler, and a pic of mocking up the tilt front clip.

Once the chassis work was all done it was time to turn our patio into a paint booth. Customer picked a grey Powdercoat for all the un-bootable stuff and we got some automotive paint matched to those parts. I wasn’t sure about everything being the same color at first, but once it was all done I thought it looked pretty good.

I think these are the motor mounts we made for this truck.. not quite sure. If not they’re very similar.

Final assembly gets started here, had our machinist friend make us custom sway bar and arms, all stock evap equipment, battery, and arb compressor to run the air locker are housed in the “trunk” under the spare tire.

Truck also has two fuel tanks. One for gas, and one for the methanol injection system which kinda acts like an intercooler and octane booster. It pumps when it’s under boost. Definitely something different than the norm.

Since this is a stick shift truck, we also added Wilwood electric parking brakes to the rear end, they work really good!

Trying to keep it relatively quiet, the exhaust goes all the way past the rear axle. After the expo we are adding a resonator to try to get rid of some of the raspiness that’s inevitable with a v6.

Now everything is back in and in its home. Wires tidied up, dash back in, etc.
it’s been to the dirt once and the customer liked it, but it definitely needs some shock tuning and probably a little stiffer coil up front. And he put a branch through his brand new bfg all terrain so it’s going to have his spare mud tire on it for the show on one wheel.

I can’t really take any credit on this one, it’s all Travis’ fab work and Dane’s welding on this truck and I think it came out pretty bitchen.

Travis is a better fab guy and Danes a better welder than me.

Fuckin killer! You guys have come a long way from doing my explorer beams 15 plus years ago! I really like the front shock mounts and the rear bump vertical tie in! Are those saddles up top for bikes I’m assuming? Top notch work Brandon!!!

I think your “misaligns” were straight pieces of tube back then. 😂

And yes, those are for his mountain bikes.
 
You are 100% on the misalignments. I fucked one of the hiems up and I like to keep lil trinkets of things I’ve broken. I have the heim on the wall with the tube still intact.

I can assure you that a supercharged SOHC 4.0 makes much more power than your V8

Your worn out, 1980s 302 is putting maybe 200 to the wheels, MAYBE. It being old and worn out, id be shock if its even breaking the 200hp mark. A stock sohc is also a 6cyl, not a 4 banger and its putting 210ish stock. Now add a supercharger to the mix….

100% I’ve got my 460 completely maxed out without bringing up the CI and it’s a 15k+ motor then add a full built trans for torque and it’s right around 425-450hp. But fuck is it my favorite car I own.

Going from an 11k lb truck to a Tesla or etron is a trip.
