Sno Commandos – Recruiting Fresh Snow Addicts

I’m looking to put together a little crew of folks who want to go snow-wheeling in the San Bernardino Mountains — my backyard. I’ve been playing in the white stuff up here for about 15 years now, but a lot of my old riding buddies have moved away, sold their rigs, or decided to become boring adults. So here we are.

We’d most likely start around the Lake Silverwood area — mostly because it’s the easiest spot for flatlanders to reach when the weather is trash, and because as you climb the snow gets deeper, which gives anyone struggling an easy bail-out point. No shame in tapping out early; we’ve all been there.

Why I snow-wheel:
I like to hotshot it. I know the trails up here, but the real magic depends entirely on the storm. I’m all about the freshies. The dream is to have a small group of people who are down to message each other when a system rolls in so we can sync up and hit it while it’s mint.

If you’re interested, post up what you drive and your experience level.

Ground rules (a very short list):

  • No 2WD. (Love you, but no.)
  • Be honest about the condition of your ride.
  • Bring the basics: shovel, winter gear, tow strap, common sense.
  • And have a plan for what happens if your rig decides it wants to take a permanent nap in the snow.

If you want in on the Sno Commandos, drop a reply. Fresh snow waits for no one. ❄️🚙💨

I’d be down.
Sliverwood is like 1.5hrs from me, so hard to make it on a drop of a hat. But if the stars align, it’s a weekend, and I’m not stuck at work, I’d love to drag the kiddos up for some wheeling and snow play.

I’ll keep an eye on this thread for runs🤙🏼

I'm down for sure, getting stuck in new locations is my goal for this next year. I'll bring as much family that's free for the day and probably just drive up from my house or leave a trailer with a desert friend.

I'm down to be in the mix on this.

This so far has been the only snow this pile has seen.. but I have done a little snow wheeling of the past 2 decades.

I would file myself under "the novice but I like to party category".

Lets goooooo

I'd be down to make a few. Unfortunately I'm in Forest Falls and until 38 comes back that puts me directly in the Flatlander byway to get over by you. I've got an Jeep LJ on 35 all terrains, do have chains for all 4 wheels as well. Done a small amount of snow wheeling, usually spending most time getting stuck alone when I had my old 1st gen Taco on 33's.

tldr; Jeep LJ, 35 a/t, F&R lockers, rubicon transfer case and d44's.
