smog exemptions moving from 1974 to 1990 and more....

Figured it would half pass then need further review to never be brought up again. Smog is a cash grab for the state and they don't want to lose that money plus all the businesses that would potentially close too.

so it just a matter of time that CARB is going up in flames.

just passed this week and waiting for trump to sign is the recall of the waivers giving to california CR87 CR88, CR89.

i dont know much about them but it is recalling the ACT clean air trucking BS. it also removes the mandate of all new cars/trucks sold in california must be electric by 2035, and something to do with california not being able to increase fed standards on emission standards. this means a cat will cost the same in ca. as it does in every other state and federals emission standards.

i think california can still test (and they will) but the standards have change. egr deletes, and DEF deletes are coming.

anybody else knows more??

I saw Newsom bitching and moaning in some press conference/interview/wtf-ever about it and how the state has the right to demand clean air and to lead the way, blah blah blah, and how they were going to take it to the supreme court. This asshole (Newsom) isnt done fighting it, he'll keep dragging it out.

the trump administration is ready to fast forward this to the supreme court. and California will loose. they will loose by way of funding.

i am not against clean air. i just want to do it responsibly. cat in california should not cost 5 times more that a factory authorize replacement. if i swap my motor and it runs cleaner then the old factory one, leave me lone.

Deletes are very unlikely. It’s not a California law making vehicles come with DEF and it has always been a federal crime to tamper with smog equipment. That’s not changing.

This passed another vote today and is moving to senate with amendments including a requirement to have collector plates and reinstating the requirement to have collector car insurance.

if you are referring to the bil 712 lenos law, you must be reading old stuff. the collector car registretion has been removed since the 1st vote several weeks ago.

the repel of CRA87, CRA88, CRA89 was just passed yesterday. this set is on its way for trump to sign already

Ill wish I didnt sell my 76 f150 supercab for so cheap if this ever passes. Same with my 1980 bronco too. Ive been junking a number of rust free running trucks because wouldn't pass smog and/or back fees with the dmv.

Nice supercab. I just sold a complete running driving AZ rust free 76 supercab f150 clean title on non-op because it wouldn't pass smog for 3K. I sold a worse rusty no motor 75 supercab with title for 3500 because no back fee's and pre smog.

well, that sucks. CARB is having such a problem with shops pushing back on doing the pre 97 checks.

so what would happen if a 35 year old vehicle owner does not want to change the registration? just keep doing it the current way or will the force you to. i hope the complications and the push back from shops this part will go away.

There's loop holes to get a 1 yr smog waiver i used fir many many years in my tacoma to keep California plates but wouldn't pass with cell no cats and supercharger.
