smog exemptions moving from 1974 to 1990 and more....

They still get to regulate the 14k+ GVWR trucks. That should keep them happy

I shouldnt let myself but im actually getting excited about this! The market on 80s vehicles is already pretty crazy I can imagine this will make it shoot even higher which is a bummer cause i really want a fox body.

So if this passed, my '93 would be excluded from smog in 3 years right? (too lazy to count fingers, toes)

Even my dad who’s been a smog tech for 30 years wants everything CARB gone. Would be cool if this passed, not sure about CARB disappearing like he says tho haha.

cant wait for this to happen. an LS swap will move up to #1 on my list.

CARB should always be around. i think there roll should change a far as cars/trucks go. i dont have a problem with smog checks. but the visual thing must go. they should just check what your motor is putting out and if it meets or better then factory numbers, leave it alone. and that should be for any motor year.

I heard from my local smog shop that they were wanting them to do a web cam to make sure visual smog checks are good. Also was told that motor swap vehicles that the referee made motor swap legit, wouod have to be smogged at the referee not just any smog shop like normal.

Also my vehicles are registered at my parents house in Santa Barbara county since it's a non enhanced smog so no dyno smog just sniffer and evap test and old plug in for CEL too

Gotta disagree there, CARB should go away. CA will be just fine with out it.

I see an even bigger problem with CA is the DMV. I have parted out recently 2 bronco's that ran and drove because the crazy DMV wanted over $1k to get a title for them to even consider getting them back on the road. People loose pink slips and don't pay reg for a couple years and they're now crazy expensive to even get a title for them to take out of state.

they will send all the bar97 cars to a state ref every 2 years for testing knowing this state.

my truck has only been to a star station for the last 25 years. i have never been able to go to any other type of place.

Lol, I registered my Ranger in Az for a couple years after escaping Ca. I apparently never got a title from Az, and found out when I tried to register it in Utah. It was like $10 to get a replacement title from Az and took a business week.

I'm still unclear as to if this keeps moving the years up? So it would be 90 this year, then 91 next year and so on?

At a minimum the visual should be removed on everything. I'm all for no smog after 30, but its ridiculous you can fail an inspection even if you truck blows below the threshold. Are we "saving the world" or paying the government?

Getting a replacement title if you are the current registered owner isn't difficult. Most I get the "owner" aka who I buy them from isn't the owner with the DMV so they cannot get a replacement title, and for me to get a new title you have to pay ALL back fee's to make it current which in the case of my 69 f100 I got would be almost $1000 to the DMV alone. Also the 88 and 90 bronco I got that were running was same deal almost $1000 or slightly more, so they are worth more in parts because they were not perfect or 100% complete
