RPG issues

Had a similar experience with Evil Motorsports. The only reason I sent my housing there is I asked Currie who they recommended to have my snouts welded in. Months later than estimated to get it done, the owner told me he pays the guy at Currie a kickback to recommend his shop. Dumb dumb mocked up the rotors on the outside of the hubs on my Dana 60 hubs and ended up making the housing an inch shorter on each side and drilled out the rotors so they had to tack weld the studs to the rotors after. It worked out as far as width alright with it not super narrow compared to the front, but that shop didn’t know anything that they claimed they knew when I spoke with Currie and them from the start of the debacle.
Was that evil mfh? I had a customer get his truck back with a hand tight tierod and just fucked a whole cv cage trying to replace an axle told him it was fine to drive and was baffled with how poorly they put it back together no stub shaft etc. Some ppl just don't care anymore...

The poor fitting on the fiberglass made me chuckle. Swear 90% of fiberglass just fits like shit now a days especially if it’s going on a bougie raptor, think the average raptor guy learns that the hard way haha.

Bought a McNeill fiberglass hood for my ranger and the thing wasn’t even usable, plan to use it as a sled in superstition eventually.

Don’t get me started on people who say they have shit in stock and then pull a fast one on you after you pay 😂

Yeah, a year or two after I had my axle over there similar reviews surfaced all around the internet and I sadly wasn't surprised. After I had dropped off my axle, Doug the owner started telling me how his background was in car stereo competitions and I had my doubts, but since Currie had recommended them without any hesitation, I thought they would do the job right. If I had known more shops like the ones on here like the FabLab, I would have gladly paid more and traveled further if I had to do it again.

Not wanting to get too off topic, I think Evil could have be similar to RPG where the owner's not the fabricator and obviously RPG had newbs or dope heads doing the work to manage to spray the whole rear window with sparks. Evil's guys and shop didn't exude a sense of professional work and the welder he had just hired to handle axle housings and cages had been a welder at Disney which at the time sounded like the kind of guy you'd want, but then I thought about it years later and I'm wondering what guy would want to go from a probably better paying gig wth health insurance etc. to welding for motorsports at a shop with a questionable reputation. If the shop hires unskilled or poorly skilled workers, that could account for a drop in quality as more qualified guys get jobs in other industries / shops.

I think the older fiberglass molds are even worse than the new ones. Both Advanced and FIberwerx had really poor sections on the front and rear for my 1G Tacoma. One of the Fiberwerx bedsides looked like it was designed differently and for a different truck than the other side.

The fiberglass fitment on this RPG Raptor looked pretty good - head and shoulders above what the other guy in the expose video showed which makes me think they couldn't keep a consistently skilled group of workers around, idk.

I've heard good things about Glass_tec for fixing fiberglass and I might take my bedsides there before painting them if they're still taking any work.

That sucks, I've been to the rpg shop in Santa Margarita several times to pick up parts and never had problems, any issues I did have they fixed. My truck has alot of their stuff bolted to it.

But I havet been there for a while did they move?

Man I bought a third member from Currie 5-6 years ago and asked where they recommended I get axle snouts welded onto my housing. They told me 100% take it to EvilOffroad Manufacturing in La Habra so putting misplaced trust in Currie, I did.

Doug the owner said he had been in the car stereo world for most of his career and the shop was a mess. Doug also said he paid Currie to recommend him and he gives their sales reps a kickback for recommending his shop every time someone comes in saying Currie sent them. F that guy and the shady people at Currie.

Red flag after red flag got overlooked on my part. The guys over there didn’t know rotors go on the back of D60 hubs so they bored out the holes on the rotors to make them slide on the wheel studs like a rotor on the outboard side of the hub. They had to tack weld the studs to make sure they didn’t turn when tightening the wheel studs and they ended up cutting the housing 1” too short per side because of where the snouts would be to get my measured wms to wms with the rotors on the wrong side of the hubs. Doug said the guy welding the snouts in had just come to them from being a structural welder at Disney, another red flag because I’m guessing that would pay way better than working for a shady off road manufacturer. Anyway, the axle shafts slid in smoothly (after getting them machined to fit the narrower housing width) and the welds looked pretty good, so if my snouts don’t fall out when I start driving this turd, I’ll be one of the luckier ones that did business with those buffoons.

It's funny, when i was building my ranger i could call any given company i was buying specific product from and would have most of it in just a few days. Shit, The Fab Lab caged it in less than 2 weeks. Now that i have the raptor, 90 percent of the raptor specific parts ive ordered through various companies either never showed up and i fought for a refund, or i got them in 3-4 months. Currently in the same situaton with Foutz Motorsports. No calls, no emails to let customer know that part is out of stock or is built to order. They take your money and ghost you until you start bugging them. Im all for waiting as long as there is good communication. I've ordered quite a bit of Gen 3 raptor parts for work from RPG and it was always smooth sailing.

really, Foutz???
i know him pretty well personally and have for years now and he never really seemed like that kind of person? if i see him sometime soon, ill say something to him if you want....... I mean im not on "friendly texting" type relationship with Greg. but ill tell/ask him about whatever if i see him.
what's your full name/what do i refer to you as? pretty sure he's not gonna know who the 69lb guy on BLGT forum is. hahhah

They ended up making it right. I like Foutz and what they've done for the gen 1 Raptor over the years, which is why i wanted their stuff on my truck. Ended up getting me a deal on their lower shock mount skid plates. Keep in mind this was over a year ago...

As much as people don't want to hear this I'm putting a warning out for Ruff Stuff Specialties to. I order a 9" housing, back truss and Dana 60 weld in spindles from them at the very end of January. The spindle are actually build by Solid Axle Ind. but I ordered through Ruff Stuff because they turn them down to fit into their housing with the 3/8" wall tubes. Now i'm pretty patient with offroad industry people because lets be honest long lead times and let down is pretty common, so I typically just shut my mouth for 4-6 weeks when ordering "custom shit". Any who the 2 month mark hit on this order and I still had not heard anything on shipping so I called....... and called.... and called over and over?!?! Nobody answers the phone or returns emails. This was weird because i've ordered many times in the passed and had no issues ever. Finally get through to someone and they tell me the usual oh yours is next in line and we are waiting for a piece for the truss yada yada ok. They also told me the spindles were ready to go in hand. Another week goes by and I called again because they told me to check in that week, No answer. Got through the next day after 2-3 tries. I got the exact excuse from the week prior except a shallow promise that it will be shipping the following Wednesday. The following week I told myself if they give me anything but a tracking number when I call I'm canceling. So anyways I now have a Camburg rear housing.

Side note when I cancelled the order I called Solid axle to get the spindle direct from them and they told me Ruff Stuff hasn't placed an order from them in almost a year. So the spindles being in stock was a lie. The Ruff Stuff instagram put out a statement explaining how basically the company is in shambles and their trying to catch back up and make things right. My suggestion is at minimum answer your customers phone calls. I little bit of customer service goes a long way in the industry.
