3 weeks ago, a bunch of the Point Mugu 4x4 Club members got together, drove to AZ, spent one night at the Avi and then hit the Mojave Road back to CA. What a great time for all and the first time on the road for a few. We had a wide range of vehicles, from Jared's Gen 1 Raptor, Lance's Brittany, Ken's Ram, a Tacoma Pro, Jeep JL, a Jeep Gladiator, a bone stock surburban on street tires... Pretty much everyone did the entire trip in 2x4. We took our time and camped on trail 3 nights. We missed not having a campfire but strict fire restrictions were in effect. We didn't have a single tire or mechanical issue, pretty amazing for how hot it was! We saw as many sights as we could, but there's always more exploring for the next trip!

Nice! We are doing this trip in November. Any pointers or GPS coordinates for good spots to camp along the way?

I didn't record any GPS coordinates. I guess we're old school. It's not tough to find areas to camp, especially since you're supposed to limit your group to a maximum of 7 vehicles! The 1st night we camped about 4 mi west of Fort Paiute after you take the bypass, a big open area (where the pic above with Brittany and Ramathorn was taken), you could easily get a dozen or more vehicles in that spot. The 2nd night was at the Aiken Mine north / east of the Lava tubes. Afton Cyn was so hot and dry for the 3rd night, the group voted to keep moving and we camped a little closer to home at Calico. November should be a great time for your trip!

"Ramathorn" :LOL:

Share some more pictures Keith. You took way better ones than me. It was a great trip. We should have screwed around in the sandy area a bunch more. That was the highlight of the trip driving wise. The powerline road rollers were fun too, but that section was fairly short.

You know that sunrise pic of mine above? Sometimes you just have to grab an opportune pic when you can. For that shot, I was walking back to camp after my morning "grunt", with the pop up toilet seat in one hand and a roll of TP in the other...!
