Off road industry drama

Im guessing Michael Osborn took the biggest financial hit on that BK deal. What a shit deal.

How about Dirt king buying Down South Motorsports? Its no secret that Dirt king shocks are not Dirt King shocks, they are Elka shocks with a Dirt King logo and I'm sure Dirt king specs and such. How do I know this? Because TC helped Elka develop their Tacoma and Tundra shocks in 2018 with the then owner and founder of Elka Martin from Canada. My guess as to why they bought down south is that they need someone who knows what they are doing with shocks and Sonny is a smart dude.

Elka also manufactures for CBI which is peak suspension, and last year when trail-gear stopped by, their TG branded 2.5s looked a whole lot like Elkas too

I thought most of the small brand shocks were relabeled / manufactured to spec. Especially the steel body ones that come with "lift kit" company stuff. Probably even more common now that a bunch of labels are all bought up by a single parent company. IE: Carli, ICON, and Cognito all being under the Randy's umbrella. FOX has BDS, Ridetech, Zone Offroad, JKS Manufacturing, Baja Kits, and Rt Pro UTV as well as others.

So what about Camburg is their shocks a reskin or is it all their own stuff
i dont know for sure, but pretty sure they are their own. they have been messing with shock stuff for close to 15 years with jason making his own personal shocks for him and scott. thinking with the funding from magnaflow they are designing and buliding thier own.

been around camburg alot in my years. I dunno 100% but they have been working on shocks starting with jasons dune buggy for over 10 years it feels like.

Pretty sure their shocks are their own work arounds, their own take on a shock but not 100% sure everything is completely their own design, meaning things like valve stacks and maybe some fo the internal parts. But i could be wrong.

Nick from DirtKing is a member on here. That said, initially I wasn't a huge fan of DK because their customers seemed like a group of bros that bolted their stuff on with daddy's money, and I had likened them to the Jeeps of the go-fast world (in my mind). I installed a bedcage/leaf spring setup from them on a gmt900 and messaged Nick to get the instructions ahead of time. He, as the owner, was helpful in getting it sent over, and then the actual install was a breeze. Everything is outline, bolts are grouped in their own bags depending on where they go, everything was boxed very professionally, and overall it was a great experience. I can say that I'm a fan of DirtKing now, and am happy they're expanding and have the growth to be able to get a company like Elka to make shocks for them and have DSM under their umbrella. Elka has always seemed like top tier shocks to me, so I'm excited to see what they come up with.

I just ordered some DK shocks for the wife’s Tahoe, received the coilovers already and they look like nice units, quality stuff. I share the same opinions about Elka, and I’m excited to see how they do

Unless it truly does just pre-load the spring a bunch. But wouldn't that lift just come from maxing out droop. Is this the equivalent to cranking torsion bars?

To the best of my knowledge Camburg shocks are their own. I'm sure the Maganaflow money is going to help that as well as Jason and Craig being very smart guys. In my honest opinion, The Maganaflow money and knowledge of those guys has the potential to be a real threat to King in the future.

I couldn't see any "Camburg" branded shocks on their page. Everything was King or Fox. They did have a fancy spacer lift with a bunch of marketing jargon to make dumb people not think it was just a spacer lift.

They don't have their own yet, but they bought a building in Utah and will be going that way in the future. In the past I was not a Camburg guy (for obvious reasons) but I've changed my opinion and now realize that I have all the respect in the world for everyone but Jerry (and maybe his kid), as he is a scumbag chameleon, wannabe influencer, who will step on anyone's head to get ahead. If you follow him on IG you'll know what I mean, Its very cringy the stuff that he and his kid post. Jerry is the least humble human on the planet and would be nowhere without Jason's ability to build stuff and now Craig Hall as a full time employee.
