Off road industry drama

to me what ever they were doing / did to make money doesn't excuse the reason for the lawsuits. Everyone above whos Buddy sold their shit to them sure didn’t care where the cash came from I bet

But was the reason for the law suit real or perceived? Did they "try and rip him off" or did he spend a ton of money chasing clout and they were riding the wave? Did they give him good advise on how to create a presence and he spent a bunch of money he didn't have to chase that presence and now is looking for scape goats to his failure? I truly don't know anything about the situation other than the legalese in the court docs. I remember a point where MCD made a big point about doing better documentation of work performed by everyone in his shop in one of his videos.

I think RW does great work but also has a history of claiming everyone is copying his style and ideas. I also have seen way too many stories of RG taking other peoples ideas and putting patents or them and just blatantly incorporating them into the stuff he is selling. Which is tough as I have always been a Robby fan boy.

Robby gordon has done this for a long time. Anyone feel free to chime in and share your opinion i may be wrong, however from what ive seen the same thing happened with Jason Heard (JEHC). Basically robby will steal peoples ideas/designs whether executed or in prelim phases, patent them as his own and then sue the original designing party.

It was some time ago but Jason heard designed parts/produced them- Robby patented them as his own, then sued Jason and essentially extorted him to pay money to use the parts that he designed and built for his latest trophy trucks.

Essentially same thing is happening here now with this v8 utv contraption and the robby woods trailing arm portal design as far as ripping off designs and using them as his own. Not sure of the patent situation between RW and RG and these trailing arms.

How many times has that truck been on its lid now?
Since I've been watching the Terra Crew videos, he's had it on it's lid at least 4 times. 2 when it was a Tundra, once or twice when it was a brown F100 and now at least one time with this new color scheme. I can't imagine the amount of money that's been dumped into that thing. I wish I had a rich daddy. I would be cool enough to hang with the TC and Gravel King guys.

If I rolled my truck that many times and it wasn't because I was racing, my friends would sit me down, take away my keys and make me drive a one-seater Honda Odyssey.

Hahahahaha , kind of the thought I had too. I don’t know enough about Eric to really have an opinion but seems like he’s always dumping that thing on its lid.

Here's one not many people know.

(I will not name the companies, but I think you can figure it out)
Total Chaos started in 1998 officially as an official business and being that the internet was pretty new we didn't get a website right away. Well as the story goes, another company started in 1997 and they got a website fairly quickly. Well when Total Chaos went to get their website, to their surprise they were told "sorry, but TotalChaosFabrication.com has already been taken" (hens why our web address is Chaosfab.com) it took some digging but eventually Total Chaos figured out that the company that started in 1997 had purchased TotalChaosFabrication.com and set it up to re-direct to their website. But the fun doesn't end there, some years later this company then sold the web address to another company that is a competitor of Total Chaos in the industry and they owned it until Nicole called them and lost her shit enough that they agreed to sell it to us.

I also have screen shots from John Bonderaunt (not sure the spelling) who used to be the owner of All Pro Off-road from when he was selling Total Chaos 2" lower control arms on Facebook and when I asked why he said "I just bought them to make a jig, I don't need them anymore"

Take a look at All Pros website and look at their spindle gussets and many other parts that are a clear copy of Total Chaos parts.

Anyway I guess I just wanted to add to this thread :)

The total chaos web address thing was par for the course for a lot of people in the late 90’s. Hell I remember people owning or buying all these websites related to everything off road in the early 2000’s when RDC and Dezertrangers were killing it.

The pettyiness of one of the co owners of the 1997 company has always been funny to me. Nicole and Matt have always been legit. It was always Interesting being in both camps friend group back in the day. But those days are mostly past it seems.

Oh I totally agree, I have nothing but respect for that company and the other business partner. The pettiness of the other owner is ridiculous and his narcissistic ways are fantastic to watch on social media. I literally don’t know anyone in the industry that I have talked to that is blue-collar who say they like that guy. He is a snake and has burned a lot of people and used a lot of people to get where he is. There was also a whole lot of daddy funding to get things to where they are. He basically rode on the coattails of daddy‘s money and his business partners Fabrication Skills.
