No Long Travel 37’s 5th gen

Run it! Ha ha!

I like the tire in the bathroom picture :ROFLMAO:

After debating heavily on steering I decided to go ahead and do the LC100 tierod upgrade kit from toyo-steering. They state that you need to ream out the spindle to a 1:10 taper. This is hard information to look up so I went to the local hardware specialist “Tacoma Screw” and matched up to a generic 7/8 reamer. 🤞 I hope it works!

For the spindle gussets I decided on ordering the Total Chaos kit. Shortly after receiving the kit a good friend of mine @Rooster.Fabrication let me know he had just received a shipment of gussets. So these will be up for grabs if anyone wants them in the Boise or Elko area. Check out @Rooster.Fabrication on Instagram.

They just showed up today! So they’re ready for you whenever!

Found a spare clamshell in town! I’m going to go ahead and regear this one on the table so I don’t down the 4runner for too long. When I’m finished if you’d like the axle tube or my original diff don’t be afraid to reach out!

Went ahead and regeared my rear 8.2 and clamshell using Revolution Gears and their Master install kit. With this kit I ran into issues. First the ring gear bolts for the rear were the wrong size. Also the master kit does not come with shims for the rear carrier. I had to source some d60 shim kits in order to shim and adjust backlash. Currently breaking in the gears now!

I had originally bought total chaos spindle gussets. We went ahead and installed the gussets and also added some extra support for the tie-rod mounting arm. For the price I was a little disappointed in the TC gussets. They are light weight and get the job done but it left me wanting more. I ended up ruining my spindles with a reamer. Ordered new spindles and had @Rooster.Fabrication install his gussets. Much more support and beef with his gussets. They also fall right into place and you can still run a sway bar if you’re into that stuff 😂

I ordered the toyo steering upgrade to swap my tierods for the LC100 tierods. There is no information about what size reamer to use. Looking up a reamer with only using the “Holes must be reamed with a 1:10 taper” is a difficult tasked. I called toyo steering multiple times with no response or reply to my voicemails. Using a mic I bought what I thought was right and marked out the reamer. Reamed the holes and found that the reamer was too big. This now turned the job into a 911 and I needed to figure something out ASAP. Continued calling toyo steering with no answer. Emailed and waited around to see if he had any spindles in stock. Finally got a response for the reamer size and that there’s zero spindles in stock. Then I had to scramble and order Amazon specials. To be continued…..
