Long story short, i won't be making it to KOH this year. Which has me severly depressed... I know the Mint doesn't bring near the crowd as KOH. But is there a fun camping crowd? Opportunity for spectators to drive their own vehicles? Being from montana the trip would be more about getting my bronco out in the whoops, and meeting like minded people. Spectating the race is just a side bonus.

Picture, just cuz

Camping is no where near what it is at KOH, and not a lot if any areas to run your own vehicle at least around where the race is held. plenty of good trials in Nevada though

Mint likely wouldnt be the venue for you... You have to pay to spectate from what i have seen, and i dont believe they allow vehicles anywhere near the live course. Basically the complete opposite of KOH.

LAME....

But thanks for being honest about what it's like.

Well does anyone know of some events in the Nevada/Utah area. Preferably NOT UTV takeover events?

Any more info on your Bronco on here?

And is that half a supertrapp muffler on your fender an air scoop?

I went to the Mint, 2-years ago thinking I could take my truck and sit along side the race course at some point. They don't allow you to do that unless you poach it somehow. They do allow you buy a racecourse pass that allows you to go to a designated area to watch it from the side of the course. Otherwise, the only other way to watch is to got the main grandstand and watch the race cars leave the starting line, zig-zag through the starting part and off into the desert. The rest of the race is viewed on the big screen.

To be honest, it was a pretty big let down. The only thing I thought was cool was the contigency part the day before in old Vegas. That was fun.

Check out VORRA they're smaller grass roots racing and you could probably camp and spectate anywhere around the course. On any MORE or SNORE racing. Basically all the smaller racing Orgs.

You should be able to search my name and find a few things. I don't have a build thread on here, or any deep dive info.

And yes, that is the air scoop for my intake. Made out of an exhaust heat shield lol

Yea any of these big state side races. Mint, V2R, Parker are kinda lame if you’re not actually racing. I feel bad saying that because I know how hard Martelli is working to build this series.

But 1/2 the fun of being at a race is blasting around the dez in your non race car.

I’ll be co driving the Mint 400 in a 5U buggy and staying at the (crappy) buffalo bill.

I flew out for The Mint in 2019, and had a great time.

Stayed at El Cortez and was able to walk out in everything on display for 2 days, pit crew challenge and such was just down the street.

Drove out to Primm for the race, stayed at the now defunct Buffalo Bill's, the start / finish was right out the back door, and we drove from spectator area to spectator area.

Maybe it just seemed way cooler to me as it was my first major desert race and I've been used to hanging out at Midwest Short Course tracks for the last 20 years.
