Clicked off another random weekend trip!

Started the trip leaving Bakersfield around 12. Took 178 to Lake Isabella to take the Chimney Peak trail but seen it was closed so took 178 to the 14/395.

Got to Kennedy Meadows in hopes of wanting to hit Monache Creek/Jackass meadows but it was all closed, Forestry service said possibly closed until Memorial weekend do to late weather in the year. So for those wanting to do that trip…I’d definitely dig hard to look for alternate routes to get to those destinations.

Camped/stayed the night in Kennedy Meadows and let my son do some fishing and just cruised around and did what what open trails and stuff we could.IMG_1704.jpegIMG_1706.jpegIMG_1718.jpegIMG_1719.jpegIMG_1723.jpeg

Got up Sat morning and packed up as it started to snow and sleet. Figured we’d head down the mountain and head north to Movie Road in Alabama Hills in Lone Pine.

Cruised around there for the majority of the day checking out all the open trials and stuff and exploring all that we could.

Jake Met up with us and we cruised around once he go there as well.

We left from Movie Road and went north to check out the Reward Mine off 395/Manzanar

We drove the trucks in (1/4 miles as far as we could). We didn’t take any of the fingers cause well... we just didn’t wanna chance anything.
After doing the homework on the place, it’s actually almost impossible to get lost in a truck but if you were walking in the shafts and stuff you could..

Finished the day off and checked out the Manzanar Concentration Camp. Did the auto tour and drove through there.

Ran into a bunch of bronco guys with the owner of Desolate Motorsports (Greg) and Lance, they were all doing a trip themselves.

Excellent trip report! Love that area.
Absolutely a blast! We had such a good time and I've always wanted to see these places.

Can't wait until better weather cause there's some cool stuff around Mt Whitney we would like to do as well.
Looks fun!
Blast! Was an awesome time. We need to get together soon! 500 run?!

love that area. my new favorite campground is Diaz lake, like $15 a night, and the few times we have been, not a single person around. Great for a jumping off point now they closed most of the camping in alabama hills.
