Thanks for reading!

Friday :: We headed out to the Clean-Dezert Hodge Road Night Clean Up. For anyone unfamiliar with Clean-Dezert, it is an organization ran by a couple rad dudes. Starting way back in 2005 these guys have continued to impress. They have made it their mission to help prevent further BLM land closures, caused by people illegally dumping trash in our deserts. How you ask? With the help of volunteer's, sponsors, the BLM, & genuine people who care. They put together these events by organizing the permits, finding sponsors to pay for the dumpsters, free food, hosting a raffle and of course the most important piece getting the word out on various Off-road forums like DezertRangers.com, Race-dezert.com, Facebook, Instagram, Ect. It's that easy folks... you can do do this as well in your neck of the woods.

HOW DID THIS START :: The Hodge Rd Night Clean Up was what Adam & his gang call a "Mini Clean-up." Held in Barstow, Ca just off the... you guessed it... Hodge Rd exit. If you are heading north on the I15 you would then take the exit, turn left, and you will see the continued trashing of mother earth. There is a regionally known shooting area with a properly safe backdrop. This all sounds great on paper, but these same folks who are responsible gun owners can equally be irresponsible public land users. So much if them drag out all kinds of garbage to shoot and just leave it! At this point we aren't even discussing all of the spent rounds. With the help of 3 roll-off Dumpsters, 2 skid steers, and roughly 160 volunteers the team made quick work in about 3 hours of filling up the dumpsters! It wasn't spotless... but it was CLEAN comparatively speaking.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP??? Well we at Bad Lines Good Times helped with Food! We teamed up with Kevin Lowrance at Lowrance Motorsports who made some unreal pulled pork w/ pickled onions. Kevin had spent the weekend prior smoking up five port butts at about 6 lbs each and then shredded them into vacuum sealed 5 lb bags. We then reheated and served up the Pulled Pork as either sandwiches or taco's. Along with his amazing pork we at BLGT had supplied 50 lbs of taco meat for Tacos along with rice and beans. We even whipped up a few hot dogs for the kids who were picky eaters. We ended up cooking 25 lbs of chicken, 25 lbs of Al Pastor, 50 hot dogs, and probably 30 lbs of pork for the 160 plus folks in attendance.

The few photos we were able to get, were taken by others. We were plenty busy shredding on the grills making sure everyone was fed! We hope to work more with this event and other's alike... We always anticipate getting a lot of footage of our adventures, but sometimes the event takes precedence. Taking care of the volunteers and being present is more important to us than our social media presence.

Yet another successful event that Clean-Dezert put together, the before and after photo speaks for itself. We are grateful for the opportunity to come out and be a small piece to the puzzle that make these events possible! Be sure to check out Clean-dezert.org Website for upcoming events. The next event on the calendar is coming up Nov 6, 2021 in Barstow. Off outlet center drive. We'll be out there. Will you?
