Hey guys, been reading around this site for a while and figure I would do a thread on my Bronco. I’ve owned it since August of 2019 and it took a ton of time and effort to get it where it is now so this may seem long, but I promise it will be good! I have done everything on this truck on a budget building most of everything I can muself. My wife named it Brittney as people are always “Look its OJ” so she can say “No, its Brittney Bitch”. We have some fun humor with that.
It came already with what I believe are older solo bumpers front and rear and the WORST 33’s I’ve ever had. It didn’t run well and even stalled driving on the trailer, but the A/C worked! The rear cargo area was bad. It looked like it was a work truck that was abused. It took me over a year of driving/ using the truck to get all the mechanical gremlins out of it with the codes. Everything from TPS to bad wiring, the shift solenoid block in the transmission and bad ABS controller (that I ended up bypassing) but the truck never saw a tow strap and never missed a trip!
In the middle of working through the mechanical stuff I scored a set of Alcoas on offerup with new 33 BFG’s and it made the look so much better. I’ve always wanted to keep the 90’s OG look but making everything work how it should.
I ran a while like this just all stock until I got an awesome deal on 35’s then I really wanted to go to something like a Solo or Desolate stage 2. I ordered a set of Solo radius arms, did the cut and turn on the floor of my garage and found the right spring on amazon after digging forums for weeks! I found a set of fox’s that someone took off their desolate kit to go to coil overs, so I scored those for a great price. It made such a big difference, and it rides awesome. Then talking with some friends, I scored a deal for a desolate rear shock mount, front D44 Detroit locker and 4.56 gearset. I paired the shock mount with a set of gen 1 raptor rear shocks that I found on marketplace, but it was still on a stock leaf pack with a lift block.
The truck was used like this as a chase truck for a friend’s race team in BITD (Caliente and Parker). We took it to Dumont and duned it with a bunch of sxs, need more HP for this!
About a year later, I found a set of national 3” leaf springs and off brand shackles for a score a decided this was the way I was going to go. I lowered the stock shackle hangers and built a bracket off the bottom of the frame to receive the now two lower hanger bolts. This set the ride height almost perfect. I did have to redo the shock mounts for the new springs, but everything cycles nicely, and this made the truck way more fun to drive.
