Figured I’d throw up what I’ve been growing/attempting to make nice on the house. Right now I’ve been neglecting the plants, but here’s what I’ve got.

Stripped out the Bermuda from the front, filled, sprinkler system, and seeded fescue. Came in pretty well, except the far section that didn’t take and Bermuda grew back so I re-tilled and will reseed when it cools down a bit. Might just throw sod down there… the edge along the driveway is getting concrete steps, so the sprinklers aren’t hitting there, so not much grass for now.

The front slope was originally baby head/river rock stacked. Made for a good time with the rc crawler, but didn’t look good. Broke my back for a few days but it turned out nice.

The wife loves roses so we have a lot of them. I think the plants themselves are ugly but the flowers are cool to look at. She keeps cutting them back pretty heavily and they grow like crazy with random shoots. They just had a big bloom so there’s not too many flowers to look at now.

I think there’s 8 more on the other side of the driveway but they’re hard to get a picture of since they’re up above a retaining wall.

When we purchased the house it came with the garden, garden shed, patio cover, dirt, and avocado tree that was dwindling. Three years later and we have sprinklers, fescue, trex deck, garden has some produce (I haven’t really planted anything this year), we planted all of the fruit trees, cut into the hillside, and added a second shed for the dirtbikes/bikes.

Along the left edge are the pumpkin plants. The middle tall stalky thing is a the base of a chunk of celery from the grocery store. It took off and I use it for food for our rabbit. Along the back wall is a grape vine, dwarf lemon, and dwarf peach. On the hillside you can see the fig tree

Ignore the many weeds, but these plants are a mix of potatoes and green peppers

Avocado and deck. The view out the back is great. Grass is patchy from dog piss.

I love the smell of jasmine, so I put three plants here to grow and cover the front of the patio cover.

That retaining wall is clean 👌

Looks like you guys stay busy out in the garden. 👍

Bro… the method hose holder is a pretty hard flex 😂

Thanks! The wife loves reminding me that I still have like 15 blocks to do for the retaining wall lol. Ughhh

I definitely like seeing greenery and flowers. I think society has become too minimalistic and things have lost their character.

Hah! I have two more wheels I’m going to turn into reels one day. One will be going in the front yard. One probably for sale

my parents have a avacado tree as well, it spent a few years about the size of yours. Then one year It just exploded with growth. If they would have let it go without topping it I bet the tree would have reached 30ft easily.

Wild! My parents tree dropped a ton of leaves this year and grew weird long stem things that are growing avocados on the ends, but it’s a little unnerving how many leaves have died.

When we bought the house this tree was struggling. It was super scrawny, very few leaves…

In other news, I saw a squirrel eating my pumpkin plants! About half the leaves are gone from each plant. Gonna spend some time in the back with the pellet gun

Here at 'Desert-Steves yard of famine' we dont have anything growing (besides weeds) but we have ground squirrels and sparrows like a mo-fo. Ive used various traps/techniques over the years to help cull them and some years have been better than others. The squirrel-inator trap with some bird seed has caught quite a few of those varmints so that I could reintroduce them to hell. Amazon and tractor supply have them and I get the bird seed from the $.99c store.
