Bobby, I can send you a GPS file if you'd like. Or I can screenshot you a picture of the route, you can save the picture to your photos, and use google maps along the way and match how it looks with the picture I send you?

On @deangraen bachelor party we went through afton canyon out to I15 on razor rd then back in at Baker off I15 and took a trail and T boned right back into mojave trail just a mile or 2 passed Soda dry lake. This worked really well and we only had to detour on the 15 for a few miles and 20 mins. Also the trail from baker exit that runs back into Mojave trail is pretty fun and smooth. Ill see if I can draw you a map on google earth.

Screen shot #1 is where you'd get off Mojave trail at the intersection of Razor rd. Then follow razor rd to I15 you'll pass a shell station (refrain from entering said shell station. Lots of Vegas trash hanging around those parts) Then head up I15 to the baker exit. Screen shot #2 first circle is were you'll continue strait branching off of pavement back onto dirt then follow that trail dead strait until it runs back into mojave trail circle #2. You'll see a rock pile marking once you hit mojave trail.

Hope this helps. We found this to be the least amount of hwy to bypass Soda

I was literally just going to ask if Soda Dry Lake was closed. I read that too. Bummer. I wanted to do more dirt ha ha! I am going to try and take Kelbaker Rd off the 15 Freeway and hope I find the trail LOL. I have been spending hours how to figure out these apps (AllTrails and ONX) and my stupid GPS units, etc. No prevail. Derp!

I was wondering if anyone has recently traveled it. And how deep the water crossings are this year.

I just need to find a close gas station near Kelbaker Rd. My truck gets bad fuel mileage ha ha!

Also note the water crossing was dry as of Oct 24th

Thanks for all the help dudes! You all have been VERY helpful. And I "think" I know where to go...(wish me luck) at 2-4mpg with a 50 gallon cell.

To put it all in perspective: I work from home and only drive about 3,500 miles a year. I don't EVER know where I am going. I need old school Thomas Guide maps. Somehow I run an online business (with the help of my website people lol).

I am technology illiterate ha ha. I have a carburetor and an MSD ignition on the truck; VERY basic.

PS Desert_Steve I did Google Earth "prerunning", thank you! Never tried that before.

What I gathered, is off Kelbaker Road by the "Worlds Tallest Thermometer" in Baker, CA off the 15 Freeway (lots of gas stations). really close by I see MANY dirt roads...none are marked as Mojave Road OHV Trail. I just don't want to take the wrong dirt road and get lost. I don't have excess fuel for that.

I may need to just wait and get a new GPS in my truck and have PCI Race Radios train me on it or something. This technology is too overwhelming for me.

Can't someone just hold my hand? I am a pussy. Plus my woman is coming with me and she will not be hip to me winging it and getting lost. Also...my white ass can't be in the sun all day if we have to walk or something from me getting us lost (even though I have SPF100 sunscreen and an umbrella LOL)

Old Government Rd is how its listed on the google earth or maps. just as a back up plan onx offroad is fairly straight forward to use and see trails from what I remember a few years back when I had it
