Picked up a 86' k5 blazer recently, gunna see what I can screw up with it. Ive always wanted to "wheel" the dodge as well as just do go fast stuff with it, but im afraid to beat panels up on it because its an absolute beauty. Ive also needed something I can load the family of 4 up in and go out, not worry about turning it into a raisin kind of thing.
The k5 came with the rear of it stacked full of NIB parts. Soft ride 4" leafs, long brake lines, steering box brace, frame plates, new errrthing.. my buddy gave me a price Ide be a fool to turn down, so I snagged it. Now the build is on.
Hopefully by end of my upcoming weekend I'll have it on the new leafs and road worthy as its sat since 2017. Its a SBC 350/700R4, 208, 10B/12B currently. Just scored a D44HD 8 lug front, currently hunting for 14b rear. Plans are to run 37s, lockers, and build sliders, get a cage kit etc etc and just have fun without worries of scratching. I dont want to crawl back door, but I want it capable enough to wheel rubicon and drive home type of thing.
Ill update more as I go!

If you push the front axle forward at least an inch you can avoid cutting the rear of the front fender with 37's
Are you planning on cross over steering and hydro assist? It makes a huge difference with these trucks. Same as swapping over to serpentine belts from the v belts. Gmt 400 stuff bolts right on.
Are you staying with the np208 or swapping it out?
Rear suspension plans?

My 83 way back when it was on 3/4 tons and 37's.

Ya Im gunna go full crossover when I put the new axle in.
Just picked up a 14B last night for the rear. Ive got brand new bilsteins for f/r in boxes, and its got 4" softride leafs for front and rear on ORD shackles. Ide like to stay with the 208, at least for now until I decide to go doubler case or something. The 208 has a really low ratio.
If I plan on sticking with the leafs front and rear, I guess ide just need to cut and move hangers to move it forward and inch?

Got some shizz done today.
Someone used copper sealant in the coolant at some point. Flushed the block as best we could. New steering arm and drag link, extended brake lines, cut oem shock mounts off, made the ones that were in parts pile work after a little plasma action and got them welded on, and mounted front shocks. Got the brakes bled and got the new freeze plug in. Tomorrow will be mounting new rear leafs, rear brake lines, shocks and grill, and it should be on the road.
Cleaning up the new axles slowly but surely as well. Scored a 14b for 50 bucks. 4.11s and freshly rebuilt.
