I do have an early 1UZ in my 2wd Yota. The build is on DR but as an overview I used the LS400 auto trans and grafted the wiring into my pickup harness. It's a fun motor with plenty of power, no ragrets.
I have a buddy that bought a sand car with turbos on a 1UZ. I don't recall the specs but was definitely short of that. I've been resisting boost but it does look so tempting.

I have an early 1UZ. That intercooler manifold is the hot ticket to easy boost, should be plenty of fun. You're not helping my resistance to increased horsepower.
They make an adapter that bolts onto the lower intake manifold of the 1uz thats like $600... just saying.
Easy is relative. I'm still ending up fabricating a bunch of little stuff the water crossover pipe at the front and throttle body mount requires modification. I also bought the wrong size intercooler heat exchanger so I need to find somewhere to stash that.
